How do I know if I'm rubbing my forehead too hard after Botox? I'm so worried when I wash my face/moisturize about moving things

I generally recommend that you avoid any strenuous activity and keep your head elevated for the first 4 hours after a Botox treatment.  In addition, I recommend no rubbing or touching of the area for the same amount of time.  You should be fine at this point to do whatever you want to your face since the Botox will have already bound to the receptor.

Hello, This is a great question. I advise for patients to wait 4-8 hours to avoid strenuous activity. Such activity including washing of the face and applying moisturizer should not be a problem to do at night. However just avoid aggressive massage, etc. but a simple task of face washing and moisturizer should not be a problem. Hope this is helpful. 

Great question!  You can safely rub your face as hard as you want at the moment.  You just don't want to do too much for about 4 hours after the injection such as strenuous activities, but just to be safe I tell patients to take it easy until the next day.  But since you're already 3 days out, there is no concern at all the now.  You can resume all you were doing before the injections.Best of luck and hope this information helps!

You should avoid rubbing the treated areas with Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport or Xeomin for just 4 hours after treatment.  It is fine to wash your face and rub after that.  I do caution my Orange County Botox patients to avoid facials and microdermabrasion for 2 days afterwards, just to be sure.

Thank you for your question and for being such a conscientious patient.  I generally recommend that patients not rub or massage the injection area for 12 hours afterwards.  You may wash and moisturize your face at this time.  Botox will take from 2 - 14 days to take effect.  Good luck.

Don't worry about touching your face, you are able to wash it right after just don't apply excessive pressure. At this point there is no risk of your Botox moving. You are fine to resume normal activities. It takes two weeks for Botox to fully set in. We advise our patients to resume normal skincare 4-6 hours after treatment, and avoid makeup application for 24-48 hours.
Check in with your provider at the two week mark to ensure treatment satisfaction.

Hi,Thank you for your question. Generally, I advise patients not to massage the treatment area for 24 hours after the procedure to minimize risk of product spread. It is fine to wash your face and use moisturizer/products but to apply them gently.Botox takes 2 weeks for the final result. I recommend you to wait until then to determine whether any heaviness has resolved. If the heaviness is getting worse and you can see an obvious brow or lid droop, I would advise you to follow up with your injector sooner.Hope this helps!

Botox is injected intramuscular and face washing or rubbing will not affect your results. We usually advise that you avoid touching areas treated with Botox for the first 24 hours, and avoid any pressure or lying down for the six hours after treatment.
What you can and should do is move muscles treated with Botox in the forehead and crows feet areas a lot ( smile, frown, lift ) in the first 24 hours.
So you are safe to resume using cleansers and moisturiser as you usually do, from the next day after treatment.
While initially, you can have a slightly heavy feeling in the treated areas, if these symptoms persist after a few days and in particular if they are located around your eye as you report, it is best to visit your treating doctor for a review and advice.

I always tell my patients not to rub the raised bumps as they will go away quickly.  Light washing the face within an hour is ok but avoid pressure.  I also tell them to do light application of make up afterward, avoiding any hard application.  After about 3-4 hours increased pressure is ok
