Although there are may options to treat forehead veins, this large forehead vein would best be treated by microphlebectomies (small incisions). This can be done in one treatment session with excellent cosmetic results.
I regularly treat large forehead veins with sclerotherapy unless the patient insists on having a microphlebectomy.Sclerotherapy of these veins is effective and safe. I have patients wear a headband for a week after the injection, the sort of band that NBA players wear so that sweat doesn't get in their eyes during play. This allows for compression of the vein walls for higher success.Microphlebectomy reqquires tiny puncture wounds and is associated with significant bruising on the forehead.
