Question

I am looking for the feasibility of the alar base lift & widening with nostrils enlargement. Is it possible to lift the nose base and place it higher with nostril enlargement? To illustrate,I have photoshopped pic of my desired result. I am looking to reduce the angle of my nasal base and eyes by lifting/enlarging the base. If one is ready to accept scar or also any implant, is this exact change feasible with implant or simply cutting and lifting/augmenting the alar base up but not touching the tip?

I encourage you to seek an in-person consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon so that he may examine you in person. Your request is unusual but that does not mean impossible. A detailed examination along with a detailed conversation regarding your request and what the surgeon can deliver is needed prior to making the decision. Best of luck with your decision.

Hello and thank you for your question. It would be helpful to have an in-person consultation to review your current nasal anatomy and evaluate your simulated goal images. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. You should be able to view numerous pictures of actual patients with noses similar to yours performed by your surgeon. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

If you're going to seek consult from a surgeon for wide nostrils, be careful about the terminology you use. Wide nostrils implies the side-to-side length on frontal view. In your before and afters, you're simply showing a longer nostril on side view. The equivalent of this on the frontal view is actually making the nostrils more narrow - which is the more common desired result. To accomplish this, the projection of the nose needs to be increased. The nostrils are a byproduct of moving the tip around, not vice versa.
