Can I put silicone tape over my tummy tuck scar even though there's still scab there?

Thank you for your question.  Always best to clear any wound care changes with your surgeon to ensure that all is well, but it is likely okay to use silicone sheets at this time.  I am attaching a link for other useful information on improving scar appearances. 

I would certainly wait until your scar no longer has any open areas on it before you put anything on it. I think you should start with silicone sheeting/tape as well as wound massage with the lotion of your choice. You should definitely check with your surgeon prior to doing anything to the scar to make sure it is ok. I would hate for you to start something too soon and get a wound infection. Good luck!

Would be best to discuss this with your surgeon just to make sure your wounds are healing normally before putting anything on them.  Hope that helps -

It is always best to allow the incision to heal and close completely without a scab before your apply silicone gel sheeting or a scar cream. I recommend that you follow up with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who performed your tummy tuck.
