Im 5 weeks post op. I still have very small areas that have crust/scabs on them. Will putting a silicone tape (for scar therapy) impair the wound healing under the scab? Should i wait until it falls off before doing this? (The scabs are taking forever to fall off, so im growing a little impatient).

Answer: Silicone tape & scars This is a question best answered by your surgeon who has seen your incisions and can make a more informed decision than anyone online. My best, Dr. Sheila Nazarian @drsheilanazarian on Instagram

Answer: Silicone Tape fot Tummy Tuck Incision Thank you for posting your interesting question. Congratulations on having your tummy tuck. It is always best to allow the incision to heal and close completely without a scab before your apply silicone gel sheeting or a scar cream. I recommend that you follow up with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who performed your tummy tuck. Your plastic surgeon will examine your tummy tuck incision and can debride or clean the area with the scab and shorten the time it takes to heal. Best wishes, Dr. Richard Swift
