Thanks for your question, Oldjo, but unfortunately, there are no simple formulas, and the settings require considerable clinical judgement.  The choice is influenced by skin thickness, pigment, and condition, as well as amount of down time, and the degree of improvement contemplated.  It is common to perform a MLP in the same setting, and BBL can be a great adjunct to improve pigment.  Discuss your goals at length with your provider and best of luck!
