Do I need Lymphatic massages if I'm getting liposuction on my inner thighs?

I'm getting liposuction in my inner thighs only will i need massages afterwards? Also will i need my thighs to be drained just as a regular stomach lipo needs to be drained and massaged ? Thank you

indiaa26   I am not a big fan of lymphatic massage after liposuction as it can be quite painful and the actual benefits are not proven.  Wear your compression garment as much as possible and save your money from the massage. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!

Thanks for the question, its rare for anyone to use drains in liposuction of the inner thighs so I would not worry about that. Massage can help, I typically don't offer it to my patients unless they are having healing issues as this area tends to heal quite predictable with just the garments.

I do not specifically recommend lymphatic massage after liposuction. Some surgeons do on the other hand. Best to follow your docs instructions.

Thank you for your question.  Lymphatic massages can help with swelling, bruising and discomfort after liposuction.  Some patients accumulate liquid beneath the skin.  Lymphatic massage encourages blood flow and lymph drainage.  Lymphatic massage is an effective way to speed the healing process.  I would recommend getting a few of these massages after your procedure to aid with healing.

ThanksYour inner thighs have the highest concentration of lymphatics and hence the discussion.Lymphatics can become sluggish post liposuction due to the swelling and trauma created at the time of Liposuction. A Lymph massage therapist can help after the procedure. But you should follow the instructions of your Surgeon.

postoperative massage including lymphatic drainage is always good to do after liposuction in any area, once you can tolerate it. I do not regularly use drains in liposuction in any area.
