How long does Vollure last in marionette lines?

Question

Although I'm only 26, due to poor bone structure and heavy cheeks (even after buccal fat removal) I have marionette lines where my cheeks sag a bit. I am interested in Vollure, and was wondering if it still lasts up to 18 months in that area, even with all the movement from the mouth? Thank you!

Hello, and thank you for your question. Different types of filler have different timelines to their longevity. However, factors can play a role, such as ones metabolism, the area where filler was placed (increased muscle movement), or brands/types of filler. Although Vollure is said to last up to 18 months, the amount of product that was first placed will not be the same 18 months later. Filler will begin to degrade over time, which is why re-treatment is needed. I would consult with a healthcare provider to see if Vollure would be a good option for you.

The typical duration of Juvederm Vollure in the marionette lines is 12-18 months, however, most patients tend to come in after 1 year to touch up the filler. Lower face filler (and Botox Cosmetic for that matter) does tend to metabolize faster than upper face. Jawline Filler using Juvederm Volux in combination with Vollure to the Marionette Lines is also a great way to contour the jawline as well as minimize the "heaviness" of the marionette lines. These factors include the skill of the injector, the placement of the filler, the location of the injections and the speed in which the patient absorbs the formulation. Thanks for your question.  You are right - 26 is young to start getting marionette lines.  One preventative strategy is to use a few units of Botox or another neuromodulator in the DAO, or Depressor Anguli Oris muscle, which pulls down on the corners of the mouth.  Ask your dermatologist or expert injector to evaluate you for that option.  It is less expensive than filler and does not make you look too full in the lower face, which some fillers can definitely do.  Another benefit is that it wears off in a few months, so you won't have any regret if it doesn't do exactly what you are looking for.  Please see an expert, and best of luck!

Vollure is my favorite filler by far, very versatile and can be used almost anywhere with long-lasting results.
In general, any filler you use close to the mouth with dissolve faster than if you used the same filler elsewhere, but in general it has given my patients great results lasting 10 months or more.
