What is the best way to fix a white and widened scar? (Photo)

Question

I got hairline lowering surgery done around 2 months ago by a surgeon that clearly is a beginner! My scar has turned white, is widening and is very noticeable. I can't leave home without a hat/scarf covering it. Im so embarrassed. I don't know if I need a revision, hair grafts or is there some other options? Please help someone, anyone!

I'm really sorry that you are experiencing this. My concern about revision surgery is that this often results in the subsequent development of stretch scars (and even tram track stitch marks) especially in areas subject to dynamic or static tension (such as in this region). I have had gratifying results in dealing with all kinds of hypopigmented scars employing manual microneedling (no need for the added expense and risks of RF microneedling) accompanied by the topical application of pigment enhancing medications, such as topical tyrosine and lanatoprost.  No doubt, owing in large measure to the power of social media and marketing hype to sway public perceptions, along the way you will be offered fraxel laser or some other device treatment. . The fact is that the hard science support these expensive supposedly ":next big thing" lasers (and other so-called energy-based devices) lags woefully behind the hype. So, a heavy dose of "buyer beware" is in order when evaluating these "bells and whistles" gizmos that are being so heavily hawked out there. You would be wise to consult with an experienced board certified cosmetic dermatologist. Best of luck.

You have a hypopigmented scar that's partially depressed.  A combination of subcision and Microneedle Radio frequency will raise the scar. The hypopigmentation can be improved with Eximer laser treatments. Multiple sessions are needed. Find a scar expert.
