How do I fix deep ridge and indentation from bad Restylane 3 years later? (Photo)

Question

3 years ago I went to someone to have the appearance of my tear toughs look less prominent. However, the procedure went terribly. I was left with an indention on my left cheek and a thick ridge that sometimes appears blue on my right cheek. I’ve waited for my cheeks to return to the way the were before, but it seems this is permanent. Is there anything I can do? Will hyalluronidase work? I’m really nervous to further damage my skin my having any more needles near the area.

If this is still Restylane, it can be reversed with hyaluronidase. It may take a series of treatments. Hope this helps.

Thank you for sharing your question and posting your photograph. The problem might be related to residual Restylane. I have seen this persistent swelling in patients who have visited me for removal. It is very unlikely that the Restylane is still there but it may be that it set up a reaction of sorts to create this fold.  see a board certified dermatologist experienced in the aesthetic field

Thank you for your question. Without examining you, it's tough to say if there is still product in that area. 3 years is a long time for there still to be product - it usually goes away in about 6 months to 1 year. However, I do see what you're talking about. So, my advice is to go to a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon for an evaluation. Hyaluronidase is safe, and will dissolve any filler remaining. You may need more than one treatment, and you can usually see the effects in about 24-48 hours. Best of luck!
