Is it safe to inject Restylane under the eyes to help with blue/purple tint?

I have been injecting fillers to treat under eye (infraorbital) tear troughs, dark circles, hollows and bags  since the early years with the use of the original Zyderm I collagen filler. Today, we fortunately have a number of excellent hyaluronic acid-based fillers for use for this region. Few experienced physicians would choose plain Restylane for this purpose since it has a tendency to give rise to the unwanted, bluish/gray Tyndall Effect, which, from your description, would be exactly what you would not want to risk happening. In fact, before the introduction of newer fillers, when Restylane was used in this region, it was often diluted in an attempt to avoid this complication. Plain Juvederm, too, would not make a good choice, as this product tends to hold on to a lot of tissue fluid and can give rise to puffy, edematous lower lids. In my NY practice, I prefer Belotero Balance, since it possesses little tendency to give rise to the Tyndall Effect when injected superficially into the delicate tissues under the eyes. In my Israel satellite facility, where a far greater number of regulatory agency approved products are available, I typically opt for Teosyal Redensity II for this purpose. Injecting fillers under the eyes is an advanced injection technique that should not be left to novice, inexperienced injectors and medspas accustomed to the simple use of plain Restylane and Juvederm for smile lines. You would be wise to seek consultation with a board certified aesthetic physician and be certain to ask to see his/her before and after photos before agreeing to proceed. These fillers (belotero, volbella, restylane silk) are good for under the eye, but keep in mind, a combination approach will give the most improvement. Fillers, lasers, and microneedling/PRP can improve under the eyes. My patients try to get non surgical treatments to avoid surgery. We use PRP and stem cells there often.
