Is it better to have a facial fat graft before or after pregnancy given my face has changed shape but my weight has been stable?

Hello, making sure your weight is stable before facial fat grafting is key. Pregnancy will likely not have a significant effect on your fat grafting outcome. Please see attached video to see how this is comfortably done under local in the office, similar to how you would get a filler treatment.

creamy77 I appreciate your concern, however weight gain from pregnancy should not affect your facial fat grafting, especially if you lose the weight afterwards. Discuss your concerns a board certified plastic surgeon in our area. Good luck

The effects of pregnancy on the face are largely dependent on weight gain.  A face can change considerably as weight changes considerably.  For someone who loses their pregnancy weight the timing does not likely matter.  That said, if you were actively trying to get pregnant I would recommend waiting.  

You should be fine, particularly if you don’t gain/loss an excessive amount of weight. Pregnancy will produce temporary changes based on water retention in later months but these will revert. 

Fat transfer will give you a new fat distribution. If you gain weight you will gain more weight where you have more fat. Personally I would stick with fillers and avoid facial fat transfer.  Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
