Clear and Brilliant or Palomar Icon laser treatment?

Question

Two different dermatologists recommended two different treatments- one suggested clear and brilliant and the other Palomar Icon. What the difference is in these treatments. My main concern is dark spots from acne scars, large pores and overall texture. I am unsure how else these two lasers differ? Are the results very different? Also, how long should I wait after receiving filler (to eye troughs, cheeks and nasolabial lines) before undergoing a laser treatment? Thank you!

This is a good question, however without a photo it is difficult to give an accurate recommendation.  In our office we recommend that you speak to the treating physician about what your end goals are.  If the acne scars are deep or ice pick then a combination treatment of Co2 treatment, microneedling and or Plasma Rich Platelets may be utilized.  If its pore and texture that are the main desired enhancement then CO2 laser (more invasive), Clear+Brilliant, or Fraxel nonablative laser may be better options. Each laser and treatment has associated side effects which can be discussed at length with you in an in person evaluation. Make sure that you see a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who has cosmetic training.

Each Doctor will have their preferred treatment. A combination approach will give the most improvement. This needs a combination of Cosmelan, lasers, microneedling/prp, subcision, salt facials and fillers. It may take a series of treatments and may need some treatments to maintain. We often combined these treatments on the same day. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an acne scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Ultimately, you should have faith in your dermatologist and go  with what they recommend.  There are various machines that do similar treatments.  The Clear + Brilliant is great for pores, texture, and toning the skin.  It is great for before a wedding, freshening, and getting a glow. Generally I recommend waiting 2 weeks before and after a Clear + Brilliant treatment for filler.  I am concerned that the heat from the machine could affect the longevity of your filler.
