What will help my doctor understand what exactly I want as a result from my breast augmentation (as far as look and size)? Should I bring photos, bras, or anything else to help him understand best? Should I bring a few different types of clothes or anything to help during sizing?
Answer: What to bring to pre-op? Thank you for your question. You can bring whatever you think will help you and your doctor understand what you are looking for and what will help you make the best decision for yourself. Choosing a breast implant size is completely up to the patient, you just are given certain guidelines of what will fit your body. You should be able to try on some implant sizers to help you make that decision, so whatever you feel looks best to you. You need to understand that you won't look exactly like you do with the sizers on, but it gives you a pretty good idea.I have put together a breast augmentation planner that I think will be helpful for you as you are preparing for your pre-op appointment. You can download a free copy of it at ABetterBreast.com.

Answer: Breast augmentation consultation Patients may bring photos to their appointment. At consultation, many plastic surgeons use implant sizers to help determine breast implant size. Past patient preoperative and postoperative photos are reviewed to help educate about surgical results. It is important to realize that breast implant surgery depend upon individual’s anatomy and realistic expectations are essential.

Answer: Bring to preop I would suggest meeting with your surgeon and discussing your desires and concerns. Bring photos or bras or anything else you want him/her to see. The decisions about what size, style, incision, look, etc, should be made prior to the day of surgery. Remember, your body is unique and you may not get the exact look as another women even with the same size implants.

Answer: What to bring to consultation Thank you for your question. You can bring photos that illustrate the size/shape you wish to be after surgery. Have an idea of which type of look you prefer, a natural looking breast or a more rounded breast with more upper pole fullness. Your surgeon will be able to discuss the size/style of implants you would need to achieve this look.Best of luck,

Answer: Breast Implants Hi TwoTone,Good idea to prepare ahead of time. Yes, bring photos of your ideal size and shape. I love it when patients bring in photos, so we can better communicate what "bigger" really means. Wear clothing you can easily slip on and off to try on implants in the office. Yes, if you want, bring extra sets of clothes. Then when you try on implants in a bra, you can see in the mirror how you will look. We spend about 2 hours with each patient for a BA consult to carefully go through all of these things. See the video below about how to better pick your implant size. All the best, Dr. Joe
