IPL booked for today...should I postpone IPL session until Caribbean vacation in 4 weeks is over?

I have had one IPL treatment about 4 months ago and saw great results, I wear sunscreen regularly. I am getting married in 3 weeks so was thinking a touch up was in order. I have a session set up for later today (April 18). I am also booked to travel to the Caribbean in 4 weeks for my honeymoon. After reading up on sun exposure and IPL I am now thinking I should postpone the IPL session until I'm back? Any advice?

Thank you for your question in regards to IPL. It is recommended to avoid direct sun exposure before and after IPL treatments. It is best to rescedule your treatment for at least two weeks after you return from vacation. To be sure, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. It is recommended to avoid sun exposure both before and
after IPL treatments. Plan on rescheduling
your appointment to a time when you will not be tan. Wearing sunscreen and a
hat area great ways to protect your skin and the investment you have made in skincare

you should not get IPL if you are planning to go in the sun.  Please speak to your MD about treatment planning and the combination therapies that are best with it.  Dr. Emer.

It is best to avoid the sun for 3-4 weeks prior to treatment and after treatment it is best to avoid sun exposure/tanning in treated areas until the redness has resolved.  Although the redness should be gone by your wedding, lesions (brown spots, red spots) usually are resolved in 21-30 days.
