Will a 3 millimeter hypopigmented scar from laser tattoo removal respond to a tattoo cover up?

I have had about 7 laser tattoo removal treatments starting 8 years ago with a board certified dermatologist; Last treatment was 3 years ago! I still haven't finished treatments because of my busy schedule; but if I were to have one or two more removal treatments; would the area respond to a tattoo cover up/ tattoo permanent camouflage to cover 3 millimeter hypo scar?

Laser tattoo removal is a wonderful way to lighten an existing tattoo in preparation for a cover up. We recommend consulting your tattoo artist prior to re-initiating laser removal. Your tattoo artist would be able to fill in the area of hypo-pigmentation.

Thanks for your question.  Sorry to hear that you have had a complication from laser tattoo removal.  Since you have been doing this for 8 years, I have to assume that they are using the older q-switch/nanosecond laser technology.  Your should consider switching to a picosecond laser like PicoSure, PicoWay or Enlighten.  The lasers are much more efficient and have a much lower potential of complications like hypopigmentation.  Picosecond technology has also been proven to rejuvenate the underlying skin.We never recommend getting a flesh colored camouflage cover up.  The color rarely matches correctly and also won't respond to sun exposure.  We are currently working with several patients trying to improve their hypopigmentation and hypertrophic scars from q-switch laser tattoo removal.Best of luck.

Tattoo ink can be used to cover up a hypopigmented area; however, the skin tone around the cover up may change making the cover up visible from time to time.  I recommend a very light cover up if necessary. Also, when you started your treatments we did not have pico lasers. Pico lasers are best for tattoo removal (Enlighten, PiQo4, Picoway) and I highly recommend you find a professional who is using one. Best of luck.
