What type of laser tattoo removal should I do? Pico or Quantum Q? (photo)

Hello,Tattoo removal, if not done correctly, can result in either scarring or ghosting.  Here are some tips:
Find a reputable office with a Pico laser. It produces faster results with less scarring than a nano alone.  Tattoo removal shops are not as reputable as a Doctor. Many of these shops close as quickly as they open, leaving you out of luck on pre-paid packages.Stay out of the sun— sunlight can be harmful to healing in after any laser procedureAvoid infections- This means keep your tattoo area clean (i.e. don’t garden right after a tattoo removal on your arm, etc), don’t pick scabs or blisters if they occur.  Follow our post procedure instructions. Avoid swimming for 48 hours as water can infect the treated areas.Allow healing between treatment sessions- typically 4-8 weeks.Be healthy- while the tattoo laser breaks up the tattoo particles, your body will actually eliminate the particles. Being healthy will help achieve this process faster and allow for consistent healing. Drink lots of water, get adequate sleep, and eat vitamin enriched foods.In our practice we utilize the currently most powerful Pico laser on the market called the PiQo4 by Lumenis.  The main advantage of a stronger tattoo laser (combining nano and pico wavelengths at greater power) is faster breakup of the tattoo.  The science of tattoo removal is complex but essentially the greater power will photo acoustically break up tattoo particles in smaller pieces.

Most Doctors have their preferred laser. The Quanta Q is good for removing black ink. Keep in mind, it will take a series of treatments. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a laser tattoo removal expert. Best, Dr. Emer

There is no question - go with the Pico. This is the newest and best technology out there, and can remove your tattoo faster, more completely, in fewer sessions, and with way less discomfort.

I would recommend the newer picosecond technology to address your tattoo.  In general, black ink tends to respond very well with laser treatments but you will still need a series of treatments to see significant clearance.  Consult with an experienced and board-certified physician.

I use the Pico and  i really like it.  Its extremely effective for black tattoos as well as ink of all colors.  it also is the least painful and has the fewest side effects.  Good luck! DSR

Great question and Enlighten 3 will do it ALL as it has 3 wavelengths which will get all colors and Picosecond technology which allows faster Removal and safer treatments,too. Have both the quanta q plus c And  the Enlighten 3, and here the Enlighten 3 hands down because of the faster and safer results.

For black ink, 1064 nm YAG laser is generally the best.  Quanta Q Plus C is a YAG laser while Picosure is alexandrite (755 nm).  I would recommend the Quanta laser.  It does take multiple treatment sessions for best results.  Make sure that you are seeing an experienced laser doctor.  Regards,Dr. Ort

This is an ideal tattoo for the lasers with pico technology.  based on your skin color, the ink color and density of the ink you should not have any problem removing this piece

Picosure excellent for greens, usually by the third treatment, your tattoo will remain static. You may need to persist despite no end point, I then flip back to my nano, but if the Quantum Q has the power, Id go with that.
