Nose Difference 1 month vs 1 year

Question

I had my rhinoplasty in 12/2021. I was in love with the way my nose looked the first few months after my rhinoplasty. Currently, I feel my nose has looked different and it’s not the same as the first or second month post-op. I thought it would be to my nose swelling up but I just find the structure changing with time. I’m wondering why it doesn’t look the same those few months after my surgery.

Hello @Cute222426, thank you for your question. It's very likely that there is swelling the first year. Following a rhinoplasty there will likely be some post-operative swelling, is a normal part of the healing process, and that was what you saw the first months. Hello! Thank you for your question.From the photos you provided it looks like your alar base is hanging down from the sides and getting wide. I would recommend you a revision rhinoplasty surgery to reshape especially the tip. You will most probably need rib cartilage reconstruction.

The changes in the nose shape at this time may be  due to multiple factors-  decrease in swelling, scarring, shape changes in sutured cartilages and settling down of grafts  amongst others. Please discuss your concerns with your Plastic surgeon who can examine you and help you with your concerns.

It would be impossible to give you a meaningfull answer without in person evluation and good series of before and after photos. You should discuss these issues with your surgeon who knows what was done and how your postoperative changes progressed. Hope this helps.

In all likelihood, you are noticing the difference between having swelling in your nose and no swelling in your nose. There may not be any changes to the underlying architecture of your nasal cartilage and bone. Certainly consider making a follow-up appointment with your surgeon to discuss your concerns.
