I am from NYC and 15years ago I went to a well known doctor that did various filling, Botox procedures. He suggested I get juvederm on my upper lip area not in my lips. Unfortunately he didn’t injected juvedrem but silicone. Is there any way this can be remove and is the procedure?
Answer: Silicone injections Thank you for your question. I have a large experience in utilizing silicone oil injections for facial augmentation. Silicone oil is replaced by scar tissue after several months. In your case, if it is truly silicone oil it is no longer there and just scar tissue. It responds very well to a injectable steroid treatment-Kenalog. Any competent plastic surgeon or dermatologist can perform this for you. Best wishes to.

Answer: Removal of Silicone/Biopolymer - Face Hi Gorgeous277972, and thank you for your question. As a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who specializes in silicone/biopolymer removal, over the past several years, I have effectively treated many patients with silicone injections to the lips, face, buttocks, etc. As part of my pre- operative work up, I require MRI imaging for all of my silicone patients to determine if the product injected was in fact silicone and to determine the location of the silicone and the extent in which the silicone has migrated/traveled to. From that point, I can create an individualized surgical plan to effectively remove the silicone from the areas of concern. I would recommend seeking a surgeon who specializes in silicone procedures and its complex removal procedure(s). I hope that this helps and I wish you all the best!

Answer: Silicone injection complications Silicone biopolymers are commonly used in the face and body. They may sometimes cause noticeable symptoms that we gauge using the Karamanoukian Soft Tissue Reaction Grading Scale from I to V. The severity of your complications dictates the interventions needed, ranging from itching and burning to severe necrosis of the soft tissue. Nerve pain and symptomatic swelling is also possible. Insurance may cover your surgery, but that is a discussion that requires you to contact and appeal to your insurance carrier. Options for removal are complex and depend on whether you have the material in your face or body. We reverse BBL with silicone commonly and remove silicone from the lips very commonly. Diffuse silicone in the face is not likely to respond to removal. Filler migration, swelling, and granulomas can cause significant discomfort and cosmetic ramifications. Our office specializes in the use of enzymes and filler reversal techniques without hyaluronidase to help improve the results of botched cosmetic fillers, whether caused by Juvederm, Restylane, or foreign fillers. We can also test for the material to determine the likelihood of silicone granulomas and silicone reaction. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Silicone Injections in Nasal Labial Fold Thank you for your question regarding how to remove silicone from not necessarily your upper lip but your nasal labial fold. It’s unfortunate that a doctor injected silicone into your face. This is not recommended. I would suggest surgical removal. Liposuction of this area is dangerous and not accurate. I would suggest direct surgical removal. The area that you circled is called the nasal labial fold. This is a hole that extends from the corner of your nose to the corner of your lips. I’ve had several patients where I make an incision in this fold and directly excise the product and associated scar. The scar heals very well. Please seek an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon for the removal of silicone in the nasal labial fold. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen.
