Hi Gorgeous,In my career of treating silicone patients, I am always surprised by this substance and how is affects the various systems of the body. Foreign body substance should be revealed on an MRI. I'd be happy to review your report and medical history to see if there is anything that stands out as to why it may NOT have been seen on MRI. Was it performed with contrast dye?I wish you luck in your search for treatment!Dr. Nik
This is an important question and certainly deserves more than a cookie cutter answer. My office is a National Center of Excellence for Biopolymer Removal and I am the surgical director and lead clinical investiagator. MRI is very sensitive and specific, but it can miss small deposits of low viscosity biopolymer that has diffused underneath the skin. I have seen this multiple times and in this case we try to use non surgical methods to safely dissipate and control the biopolymer reaction. Begin with a consultation so we can address the facial edema and soft tissue changes. Biopolymer removal is a longterm strategy but we have solutions. Best of luck. Thank you for your question regarding if there is a safe way to have Vaser Liposuction in the face while avoiding nerve injury. In my opinion, it is safe to remove fat from around the marginal mandibular nerve. It will be important for you to go to an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon who has performed this procedure many times to achieve optimal results. Liposuction is slightly dangerous in that it is performed with an unseen cannula tip. That means that the fat is aspirated or sectioned without seeing exactly where the tip is. However, an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon will know where the tip of the cannula is for the removal of the fat. Therefore, if you can find an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon who has done this procedure before, I would suggest that you go for it. I hope this helps. Good luck.Sincerely, Dr. Katzen.
