Dear evangeline jamie, bigger implants won't help with bottoming out, it can only make it worse. Bottoming out occurs when the implant falls below the current breast crease or inframammary line. It's more likely to happen with inframammary incisions, which is why I try not to use the inframammary approach to any breast surgery.Bottoming out can also occur if an implant is too large for the breast pocket. That is why it is important to choose an implant size that's correct for your body. I perform numerous measurements in the office to determine optimal implant size for my patient's bodies. If you are concerned, please check it with your plastic surgeon for reassurance and to further discuss your options and possibility of revision.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hi there,You cannot fix bottoming out simply by increasing the implant size. You can however, fix bottoming out through the areolar incision by tightening the inferior capsule or adding a mesh in place then replacing the implants to the size you desire. This can be done in one surgery. All the best
650-700 cc implants weigh 1 1/2 lbs each. The extra weight will cause the bottoming out to be much worse not better. Unfortunately, you have not provided photographs. You may benefit from internal plication and possibly smaller implants.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.
The incision can be used, unless it is tiny. But, going larger will just make you bottom out even sooner. Do not go larger but go smaller. You are bottoming out now because your tissue cannot support the current weight. The 650-700 cc implants very heavy. For most women, they are too heavy for your neck and shoulders. Go smaller and consider mesh for better support.
In general, no this would not fix the problem. Bottoming out of implants is usually associated more with implants that are too large, which leads to malposition on the chest wall. Going up in size would only make this worse. In addition, it would be difficult to place a 650 cc implant through an areolar incision, unless you are using saline. Best of luck!
Dear dewi_11, I understand your concern. If you have lateral displacement, you will need implant pocket revision in order to improve it. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment...
You did not post photos, but I suspect your implants are much too large and heavy for your frame and tissue. You need to go smaller, have the pockets tightened laterally with internal sutures, and may need mesh.
