It sounds like this would be an appropriate question to ask your surgeon. I am not aware of advocating for a chin implant surgery before sliding genioplasty surgery. Thank you for this question. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

A chin implant will sometimes compress the underlying bone and create a hollow into the bone. Also, the skin is going to stretch. A 4mm implant may not give a 4mm projection. Most surgeons use sizers at the time of surgery to assess what looks appropriate. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
