Thank you for your question regarding whether you would be a good candidate for an arm lift after having bariatric surgery. Thank you also for your pictures. Based on your history of weight-loss surger and your pictures of excess skin and fat from the armpit to the elbow, I think you would be a very good candidate for an arm lift or arm reduction, or brachioplasty. The increased number of arm lifts being performed is indeed due to the significant increase in of bariatric surgeries being performed worldwide. Specifically, in your case, I would suggest a longitudinal brachioplasty. During your arm lift or arm reduction, liposuction is performed. During the same procedure, an incision is made from the armpit to the elbow, and multiple layers of sutures are placed. This procedure is done under general anesthesia and takes between three and four hours to complete. Plan on a one to two-week recovery if you have a sitting desk-type job. If your job entails lifting more than 10 pounds, recovery will be at least three weeks. Three weeks in compression garments will be important for optimal score healing as well as minimizing swelling.
