Uneven nipples after breast lift. (photo)

Question

My nipples seem to be slightly uneven, however, I'm only 10 days postop. Is there a chance this will even itself out? I'm not seeing my surgeon for another 5 weeks. Before the surgery he did mention my left breast was slightly larger. Thank you!

Dear Ferrofum,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast lift surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process at 10 days  post op.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides you will be able to see the final result of your surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD

It is natural to be concerned about slight asymmetries after a breast lift surgery.  However, you are still very early in the recovery process and it is common to have asymmetries due to swelling at this stage.  Try to be patient as you allow yourself more time to heal.   Swelling can often take upwards of a year to completely resolve after surgery.

Thank you for your question and picture.
It is perfectly normal at this stage of healing to notice some asymmetry in volume,shape ,size and nipples position. Some differences will improve with time some others especially if preexistent might be impossible to correct. You have a very good result so far so be patient and speak with your surgeon at your follow up if still concerned (preoperative pictures could be helpful to appreciate the result)

Your results are excellent for 10 days. Many appearance changes will occur for months and up to one year so the analysis at this point is premature and can be unnecessarily anxiety provoking. Realistically, there is no such thing as perfect breast symmetry, and normally one side can heal faster or be more swollen etc compared to the other early on the in the post-op period. Trust your doctor's expertise and be patient.

Thanks for your question and provided information.
It is normal. You are still early on healing process and right now you might have one breast bigger than the other, feel swollen and also have bruises; this can happen for the first 4 to 6 months. 
Please be patient, but if the situation doesn't improve over time, I suggest you to follow up close with your plastic surgeon.

I believe at this stage that your result looks excellent.  Things will certainly change over time, but I see nothing to be concerned about at this point.  Also be aware that no 2 breasts or nipples are ever exactly the same. Allow time for your body to adapt.  All the best

 You are still very early on in the healing process. Your results look like they are coming along very well. It’s hard to tell at this point if anything is uneven due to both sides swelling and healing differently, and at different rates. In three months or so, you will be able to get a better idea of what your nipple position will look like. Talk with your doctor during your next appointment to discuss your concerns. However, perfect breast and nipple symmetry is not always possible. Best wishes to you!
