What happens if Kybella gets in your thyroid gland?

2 months ago got kybella. My symptoms have gotten worse as the days go on. I can’t see straight, my tongue is dry and sticking to the roof of my mouth, I’m fatigued, loosing my balance , and at one point started hallucinating. I can’t barely function. My thyroid gland throbs. I’m very worried. Can kybella eat away at my thyroid!?

I wonder if your concerns and worries are making it difficult to function? I strongly suggest contacting your primary care physician or internist. Let them know your concern. They can test you and perhaps the test results will be reassuring. I also wonder if your treatment and worries about its potential effects are triggering an anxiety disorder. If the testing does not reassure you and assuming there is in fact nothing medically wrong, a visit to a psychatrist maybe warranted to determine in you are having a thought disorder. I hope you feel better soon. Please do not have more Kybella treatment.

It is unlikely this product is in your thyroid gland.   Based on your picture the area of swelling is really far away from your thyroid gland Kybella gives a pretty massive inflammatory nice ones. So much so that I am highly opposed to using this product.  It's also highly unlikely the product got in your salivary gland's.  Even if it did the area under your chin are the minor salivary gland's.  The major salivary gland's that produces most of the saliva is your parotid gland which is in front of your ear. I suggest you follow up with your primary care doctor.  Based on the number of concerns you have I'm guessing you may have some underlying anxiety.  There's an easy test to determine if your product glands are working. The minor salivary gland's are more difficult to test.  The doctor would look inside the mouth where the opening to the parotid gland is and put a few drops of lemon juice on your tongue. You can normally see his saliva actually squirt out.  The inflammation it will eventually go down and hopefully you'll get the results you came in for it.   As much as I am against the use of Kybella it is unlikely these products gave you the symptoms you are experiencing.  Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
