I have porcelain veneers on my front 6 teeth. I have crowns but I can't tell you where. I have a molar (#3) that needs a root canal. Long story short, my insurance is not going to help. I want to know if I get it extracted if my teeth will shift? I do not want a gap especially in the front. Someone just mentioned to me that they shouldn't shift since they are veneers.
Answer: Should I extract molar to avoid root canal? #DrSarahThompson #RealSelf100 You would save money by getting the molar extracted now, but it would cost you a lot more in the future. Removing molars, generally leads to other teeth shifting overtime, creating gaps between other teeth. Also, the removal of one molar can lead to a shift in the neighboring molar, that may cause pain and or fracture in that adjacent molar. I recommend spending the money to save that molar at all cost, because that molar will be so very important to you a few years down the road. Good luck and I hope this helps. Answer: Will My Teeth Shift After Molar Extraction? I cannot tell you for certain whether or not your teeth will shift after having a molar extracted. What I can tell you is that I have seen it happen many times over the years and it is better to keep that tooth if at all possible. Perhaps you could look into Care Credit to help you financially keep the tooth and spread the expense over a period of time. Just a thought but I don't know your individual situation. Wish you the best of luck.

Answer: Will my veneers shift if I get a molar extracted? Your porcelain veneer front teeth can shift, if you have a tooth removed in the same jaw. porcelain veneers are bonded to your own teeth, but the teeth themselves tend to move toward the area you have the space.Depending on how long it will take you to restore the missing tooth, your front dental veneers teeth, can open a bit of space, in which upon flossing, you will not have any more contact, and you can get food caught there. If your porcelain veneers on your front teeth are joined from the back, then there is way way less possibility of your front teeth moving or shifting.Word of advice, try to save your own tooth and do the root canal and have it crowned. It is still your own tooth !

Answer: I have veneers on my front teeth. Will my teeth shift if I get a molar extracted? Sorry to hear that you want to have a tooth extracted just because your insurance won't cover it. Insurance is not forcing you to make that decision so I would really think long and hard about it as replacing a missing tooth is much more expensive than a root canal. To answer your question though. Yes your teeth will eventually shift. Having veneers on teeth will not prevent them from shifting although it is highly unlikely that having a molar would effect anything in the front of your mouth. Good luck and think about your decision.

Answer: Shifting The fact that you have veneers has no effect on wether your teeth will shift or not whenever you lose a tooth there is always a chance of shifting I would suggest having a retainer made to hold the teeth in place.
