My daughter has 8 ugly crowns from the dentist. How can her beautiful smile be fixed? Can veneers help?

Hello there,I am not sure what type of crowns your daughter has on her teeth, but veneers would not be the solution.  All porcelain crowns would be the solution.  If she already has porcelain crowns, then they may need to be done again by the same or a different dentist.  This would be pretty expensive, since insurance is not going to pay twice for crowns on the same teeth.  Good luck and I hope this helps. I believe the crowns placed on your daughters teeth are SSC (Stainless Steel Crowns).  I'm sorry to hear that.  Yes there is a solution.  The crowns can be replaced with all porcelain restorations.  Usually, once a tooth is prepared for a crown, it cannot be prepared for a veneer, however with SSC crowns, there shouldn't have been much preparation work since these crowns are prefabricated and crimped to fit the tooth.  In other words, there is a chance she can have veneers placed if the teeth underneath the ssc crowns have not been prepared, and the decay isn't extensive.  The best material would be fibercore.  This is still esthetic, but has much more flex than porcelains like zirconia and emax, which would be better for your daughter's primary teeth.  I recommend seeing a very experienced cosmetic dentist, not a pediatric dentist.  Also, if you only approved of 4 crowns and she has 8, you may want to talk to the dentist about that.  Don't beat yourself up over the this.  It can be fixed, but make sure you and her take very good care of her permanent teeth when they come in.
