My Toddler Seems to Have a Deep Neck Roll She is Not Outgrowing? (photo)

Question

My daughter turned two in May. She has a deep fatty band or roll on the front side of her neck. It seems to fade towards the back of her neck, but it's hard to tell. I believe it is asymmetrical and more prominent on her left side. The band has continued to grow along with her since she was little. She had mild torticollis as an infant, which was addressed very late (9 months - 1 year) and still has plagiocephaly as a result of the torticollis. She has graduated from PT for her torticollis.

I note you described additional genetic issues at the end of your question. These are all inter related. Best to see a Pediatric plastic surgeon to discuss the long term plans for her.

Its likely related but at this point, its best to simply allow her to grow and not worry about it.  Your pediatrician should be able to help reassure you.  There are not any interventions that surgeons would undertake to address a roll at that age.  If it was causing functional issues, that would be a different story.  Hopefully this will simply disappear as she ages.
