This is a brief review on my FUT Hair Transplant I had with GetHair and Dr.Tayfun in Istanbul about a year and a half ago. I’ve written other lengthy reviews for this, but I decided to keep this one somewhat short as it’s been more than 1 year and a half since I had my HT procedure. My hair has grown and filled nicely, so I’m very happy with the results of the complete process. I’ve always been very happy throughout the stages. So, Dr. Tayfun and his team did a great job! Stuart – the GetHair consultant who has assisted me throughout the process, from the very beginning, is an amazing and professional person whom I’m very grateful. Also, for me the price of my hair transplant procedure with GetHair in Istanbul was very cheap compared to other clinics in the UK, US, etc. If you do a research on Google and YouTube, you’ll see a lot of positive reviews for GetHair. They’ve also been featured on BBC, The Independent, etc. My experience with them has been great! I know it’s difficult (I’ve been there) to decide which clinic and company you want to trust for this very important procedure, so I highly suggest you talk to Stuart at GetHair. I’ve had a great experience with him!
I can't thank Dr Tayfun enough for the professional and quality job he performed. I had a short conversation in the morning of the procedure where he showed me where the implanted area was going to be and if I was satisfied with this. The procedure itself took the morning to complete and I was back at the hotel recovering by 12 in the afternoon. The only slight pain you feel is when they first inject local anaesthetic into your scalp (this was a short sting and lasted no longer than a few seconds). I am now 7 months post operation and the results are fantastic. It has given me my confidence back and it feels surprising to think that I even went for a hair transplant in the first place as the whole process has been so smooth.
My entire experience with GetHair was easy and clear from the start. Kaan the patient coordinator is very helpful and informative throughout and the regular email contact is reassuring. The transport arrangements are first class, comfortable and easy. I must say the hotel accommodation is of a decent standard with clean rooms and welcoming staff. The in house restaurant provided an excellent evening meal and plenty at breakfast time. Upon arrival you are met by the first member of the clinic staff and given your itinerary and the time to be ready the following morning. At the medical facility nearby the clinic itself is modern and professional and all the staff and surgeon I met were wonderful. They keep you aware at all times of what is happening and it was a very calm and comfortable experience throughout. As far as discomfort goes I’m glad for the med’s provided and I confess I drifted off during the procedure .. I was that relaxed...! I have no hesitation in recommending GetHair to the reader, and have already convinced a close friend to follow my footsteps soon xxx Thankyou soo much for your expertise and for helping me to be happy xxx
Hello, I would like to share with you my hair transplantation for 4000 grafts with dr Tayfun and follow up and i need you opinions in the Initial results. Where the doctor advice my the maximum number 4000 grafts to comer 2/3 of balds area with high density.
er losing hair since my beginning of my 20s, i finally decided to go for a hair transplant procedure. Im 30 years old now, and come from Norway. I checked our several hair transplant clinics back in Norway, but they were all very expensive, and didnt have enough reviews and before/after photos from customers, so I decided to look up clinics in Turkey. I spent a couple of months doing research, and was impressed by Dr.Tayfuns qualifications, experience and reviews and before/after photos from their customers that all seemed happy. I travelled to Istanbul 22 october, and was picked up at the airport by a driver that took me to the hotel that Get Hair had included in their package. It was a nice hotel with good roomservice and staff. The operation day(Tuesday 23 October) had arrived, and i was exited as the driver picked me up. I needed 3200 grafts and the operation took around 5-6 hours. It was not so painful, and both Dr Tayfun and his assistants was really nice, and I honestly felt really good taken care of. They seemed very professional from the beginning to the end. I am very happy with the result so far, but the "end product" will come in 12 months, so im exited to see how it looks in a year. It looks for me like alle the grafts are placed with good density, and the details are stunning. Im glad i decided to go with Get Hair. I see a lot of people are thanking Stuart and Galina in their reviews, and before the operation I was unsure if all thoses reviews could be "That great", but honestly, i have to thank them myself. Good talks with Stuart on e-mail answering every question i had quickly, and providing good information on mail before and after the prosedure. Thanks also to Galina and the rest of the staff at Dr T hair transplant for taking good care of me. At the end of it all, traveling to Istanbul getting a hair transplant wasnt scary at all. best regards and a big thank you Paul Updated on 25 Oct 2018: It looks like its healing well, and i dont feel to much pain. My head is a bit swollen, but that was expected. Going back to work in 4 days, and i hope the redness Will go away, but i think it Will stay like this for one week. Will keep updating. Updated on 26 Oct 2018: Hello guys, It's now day 4 after the transplant and the last day my head was a bit swollen. But i sleep good ever night, and have manager to sleep on my back ever night. I cant feel pain now, and it is just a bit itchy in sone areas. Updated on 27 Oct 2018: I had a night with less sleep then the night before because of a lot of itching in the donorarea. I stil have to sleep on my back, that doesnt make it easy to get som sleep. The donor arena and transplant arena arr still red, but im not worried because i was told it can be both red and itchy for upto 2 weeks. I had my first hairwash by myself today and that felt really good. Just by gently tapping the transplanted arena with the shampoo and rinsing it of. Still to early to see what the resultat is going to look like. Updated on 28 Oct 2018: I have now had my first hairwash for my self after the wash i got at the clinic the second day after the surgery. The redness is slowly dissapering, and the swelling is completely gone. Still a bit itchy. Updated on 30 Oct 2018: It is now one week since the transplant and I have been washing my hair for 3 days now. I see some of the scabs falling off, especially after today's shower, and I'm a bit worried I put to much pressure on when massaging in the lotion and shampoo. I had my first day back at work today, and I only got positive feedback from my colleagues. It still is visible for others to see that a transplant is done, but I'm rather embracing it than hiding it. I live in Norway, and with a lot of snow it was a bit hassle to get to work today, but I put on the sun hat I got from gethair and I used it when I was outside. Updated on 31 Oct 2018: The donorarea is healing up nice, and the itching is dissapering. Some of the scabs are gone at the transplanted area, but I read on realself that it's normal after 7 days, and that the grafts stick after around 4 days. And I read that some doctors answered that it's normal to have some shredding after 7 days as well. I was a bit worried last night after losing some scabs after my hairwash, but it seems that's normal. I will be extra gentle with my next wash, that's for sure. I also emailed with my contact at gethair and he told me that it's okay to gentle massage the area with the lotion I got provided, and that he was sure I wasn't being to rough, and that I was just being very cautious. He also told me that some scabs may fall of, and that I can gently tap the area when washing if I was worried I was putting to much pressure on. Looking at the photos, I think it looks good, and normal at this stage as it still is scabs left. Updated on 6 Nov 2018: Hello. Im now finished with my washing routine. Yesterday i had alt of scabs, and when Gethair told me to send over photos of my progress today, they reply ed that i had to light y massage the receiver area. All of the scabs dissapered, and now i look more normal :) i think it looks great now, but the hair will start shedding in a short periode of time.
Wanted to give back and help others out there, have blurred out my face as i didnt want it all over the internet sorry! & ill try to update when I can. Flew out to istanbul 7/12/17 op on the 8th and back on the 9th. Had over 4000 grafts to fill in my hairline and any thinning on top. Took just under 7 hours. Clinic I used is called Get hair and paid £2950 + £160 for flights. Could of got it cheaper but liked the reviews and the look of this place so paid extra, still a huge saving over the UK. Liked the fact that the Dr made the incisions himself rather than technicians. Did have some swelling and bruising 3 days post but cleared come day 6. 7 weeks post now and the donor area looks great, wouldnt know any hairs have been taken even clipped at 1mm length. Transplanted area is still slightly pink but was quite red raw up until about 4 weeks, getting better day by day. Happy to leave the house without a hat even the way it is, have started to see some growth already, not much but some hairs sprouting out and a few that didnt shed have continued to grow. Too early to leave a positive review but I’m positive l have a good result in a few months time. Still looks bald at the temples but very early days! Any questions feel free to ask and ill try and answer when I can. Hope this helps someone out there like others did for me. Sam Updated on 30 Jan 2018: Little update, few pictures from the past couple of weeks. Fews hairs starting to grow but a long way to go yet! Not wishing the time away just leaving it to so its thing and not thinking about it too much. Using minoxidil twice daily not sure if this is doing anything yet, too early to tell. Updated on 31 Jan 2018: Just an update of the head with clear pics all taken today. All taken with the flash on after applying minoxidil (shiny scalp) Still getting a couple of pimples in the donor area and still slightly pink on top but overall looking okay. Shock loss from the top appears to be growing back. Updated on 13 Mar 2018: Just past the 3 month point since my op, Have seen a fair amount of growth over the last 2-3 weeks. Still noticeably thinner on the temples but getting there. Very happy with how things are progressing anyway! Have taken all pictures under a light with the flash on the camera, let me know what you think! Updated on 25 Mar 2018: Little update, first 7 pictures show it after 3 months growth, last 3 are after buzzing with no guard. Wanted an idea of how it was looking, especially the donor area which is no longer pink. And to help blend the temples with the top, which were still much thinner with a few long random hairs. Going to leave it to grown now for the next couple of months and hopefully the hairline will catch up with the rest of the hair. Updated on 29 Apr 2018: Update as requested. Loads of growth, still thinner on the temples but getting better week by week. Buzzed it down to the scalp 5 weeks ago and not touched it since, not cutting it now for the next couple of months to see how it blends in when its longer. Excited for end result! Updated on 27 May 2018: Slowly getting there! Loads of growth since my last update. Updated on 11 Jun 2018: Have taken pictures both wet and dry hair and in a normal lit room as well as in-front of a very bright window! Very happy with how its looking at this point, in certain lighting you would think ive got a complete full head of hair, other lighting you can still see through to the scalp. Still another 6 months to go so not worrying about it, still a huge improvement from how it was before. My donor area looks completely untouched and very happy with how its healed! No pain, sensitivity or pimples for a couple of months now. Let me know what you think! Updated on 18 Jul 2018: So 7 months have passed, still 5 more or so until my final results. Plenty of new hairs still poking through the skin. Temples are still thinner and a little weaker than the rest but getting better week by week. Very happy with how its looking and unless under really strong spot lights look like I have a completely full natural head of hair! Let me know what you think! Updated on 22 Oct 2018: Been a while since an update but been very busy moving and renovating my house! Couple of people have asked for an update so few pictures below, let me know what you think! Taken under very bright spot lights so gives a good idea of just how successful the transplant was! I’m very happy with it, never wear a hat or feel conscious about my hairline!
(HUSBAND ACCOUNT OF SURGERY) Fantastic Results had thinning and fine hair on crown - looked into all UK options and felt that 10-12k was far too much that I could afford. On searching the internet I found cosmetic surgery cyprus - lady called Gill was fabulous at assisting me booking an on line consultation with Dr Tayfun. He recommended 3000 grafts at a cost of Euro £3000 - my wife had had dealing with a previous patient of Dr Tayfun so we knew we were in good hands. Booked for April 2017, hotel and flights booked for a 4 day stay in Northern Cyprus. The operation was painful - well the local anesthetic was the worse part and the head shaving was a little odd (as never done that to myself before) Everything went well and I was in around 6 hours in total, Pre booked taxi took us back to our hotel with painkiller and we were due back for a hair wash at the hospital the next day. The feeling is more like a helmet on your head after and I did experience a lot of swelling day 3-7 as you can see from the photos. I'm not a patient person, but you have to go through the itching, scabbing and and sometime infected hair follicles when healing but just have faith and now 5 months on i'm so pleased with my new hair! Would totally recommend Dr Tayfun whether in Cyprus or Turkey. Look up Gill at Cosmetic Surgery Cyprus to assist you with all the planning. Such a difference in cost from the UK... be brave go for it!! Feel free to email me with questions. I have numerous friends now taking the plunge after I was guinea pig!
So, I've researched Tayfun Oguzoglu MD for over a year and... So, I've researched Tayfun Oguzoglu MD for over a year and thanks to everyone on RealSelf (what's with the fake 1star review accounts?) I made the decision and here I am. I have bought the ticket and have flown to Cyprus, the clinic is in Nicosia and hotel in Keriniya, I was met by the driver and has brought to hotel I have arrived to hotel have taken a key and have gone to number. On the following morning me was taken away on operation, people wrote that pricks are painful, frankly speaking it wasnt painful to me, operation to me has begun have made 2800 graft operation duration where 4,5 hours definitely I dont remember that, operation here has ended and I have gone home, to sleep have told only on a back. I of course am happy that I have made hair transplant long ago dreamed of it. Here my photos before operation. I will be updated whenever possible. Dr. Tayfun Oguzoglu is pioneer MD for Hair transplant procedures in Turkey. He is the one of the first doctor who established his own clinic and applied FUT Technique in 1996-1997. After a year in 1998, he practiced in and became a member of International Society5 of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) .
It all happened on my return flight from Bodrum to the uk last June 2016. I spoke to a gentleman who was returning from Istanbul and had the FUE done there a week previous......I was surprised with the results, so requested the relevant information. When I returned home I contacted the Company " Gethair" office in London, but the FUE would be carried out in Istanbul. I sent pictures of my existing hair via my mobile and within 24 hours was informed that I was a fairly good candidate for the procedure. I Knew that I would be back at my holiday home near Bodrum on the 2nd October 2016 so planned my procedure to be carried out on Friday 7th I took an internal flight to Istanbul on the 5th met at the airport and taken to my hotel, the hotel was great and very comfortable. The following day I was picked up at 9am and taken for my procedure at the hospital, which may I add was spotless and looked very hitec. I met the surgeon we spoke at length at what I wanted, a new hairline was drawn on my head, paid the money and off to get my new hair.I personally found the first few injections quite painful but after about the first 10 the other around about 60 were painless. The process took around 6 hours stopping for lunch for around 30 minutes. I was back at the hotel by 4pm.The following morning I was picked up again and taken for a hair wash and given some medication to take including shampoos and creams, all instructions were written down for me. I was then driven to attaturk Airport for my internal flight back to Istanbul. I'my now 20 days pretty opp all scabs are gone, so looking forward to the results very soon. Updated on 11 Nov 2016: So far so good after only 4 weeks, this time last month I had very little hair and no hair line, seems to be growing well at the moment. Updated on 21 Dec 2016: Well, I am now 10 weeks pre-op.....and starting to look good, all the transplanted hair fell out over the first 4 weeks then new hair started sprouting through, still have 10 weeks to go before reaching the 20 week stage ....so feeling confident that over a period of 12 months it should be at its best....I will review again at 20 weeks. Thanks Steve. Updated on 8 Feb 2017: Well after 16 weeks I can now certainly see an improvement all seems good and growing well. Booked an appointment at the Barbers this afternoon, something I haven't done for years. See the two pic's I've added one week before FUE and a now pic. Updated on 8 Feb 2017: Went to the Barber today first time in around 10 years and had a haircut....really forgot what the experience was like, and feels good to have a hairline again. Updated on 24 Feb 2017: Sometimes I get the impression that potential patients for the FUE treatment are more worried about going to Turkey for treatment than actually having the treatment, well let me put your minds at rest. I have owned a property in Turkey since 2008, fly there 6 or more times a year, take internal flights to Ataturk Airport, Istanbul and stay in hotels in Taksim Square, in fact I'm flying to Istanbul in 4 weeks time to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. I've also decided to pop in and see my surgeon at the "Get Hair" Medical Centre as I'll be 24 weeks pre op......So just to reiterate if your planning the FUE treatment, don't let the location hinder your decisions to move forward,....you will be fine. Updated on 26 Feb 2017: This is a 20 week pic, really starting to thicken up and also starting to show some volume in height. I have noticed a big difference in the last few weeks, and so has all my friends who constantly comment. Well pleased with the progress so far. Updated on 2 Mar 2017: It's now 21 weeks pre op, and really now seeing a big difference, feels great to have a hair line back, to be honest I can see big differences every day now, and compliments galore from friends and family who knew what I looked like before the HT. So happy at the moment and so pleased I took the gamble back in October 2016 to get it done, even got my confidence back, diet next.lol. Updated on 10 Mar 2017: I just wanted to say that anyone considering going for FUE don't hesitate and go for it. It really has been the best thing I've ever done, it gives your confidence back & makes you feel good about yourself again. I personally was slowly getting depressed everytime I looked in the mirror and it was affecting my day to day life so had to do something about it. In October 2016 I went to Istanbul the company I used was "Get Hair" Doctor Tayfun, and had 2,650 graphs. It's now been 21 weeks since the operation, things are looking good and a difference can be seen every day, so pleased......I have just added a before & after pic....to prove that this procedure really works,...well it is for me anyway. Updated on 10 Mar 2017: Two pics, one before and one after.....make your own minds up as ....was it worth it? Updated on 5 Apr 2017: Just coming up to the 6 month period since my FUE in Istanbul, & returned for a holiday this week. As said before confidence is back and seeing more growth everyday.Looking forward to a 100 % result. Updated on 26 Apr 2017: Now into the 7 month period after FUE.Still growing well and height and volume noticed every day....Still around 5 months of growth to go, so optimistic it's going to be a great result. Very happy so far.....and worth every penny. Updated on 25 Jun 2017: Well, it's now been 8 months since the FUE procedure and as you can see by this recent pic I think that it's a fantastic result, very happy and still 4 months if growth left. I've been asked what my Norwood scale was before surgery, and to be completely honest I have no idea. But on saying that I believe the results speak for themselves and so happy I went and had the procedure done. It certainly turns your life around. Updated on 25 Jul 2017: its now been 9 months since the FUE in Istanbul, must say I'm pleased with the results so far.....still around 3 months left to hopefully see the finished product....very happy so far Updated on 25 Sep 2017: Just had a haircut and the first time in nearly 12 months I've had my new hair shortened and cut back....very pleased with the results so far and still one month to go before the 12 Month period. Deffinatly a good move initially to get the FUE....as said really happy. Updated on 4 Feb 2018: As you can see by the pic it hasn't all fallen out, I don't think it is going to get any better, on saying that I am so happy with the results as you can see from my posted pics. I may give one more review in 6 months time. Finally for all those who are thinking about the FUE operation all I can say is just do it, you certainly won't regret it.
I have searched and searched over the last 2 months and read many reviews. Was going to do this 2 years ago but daughter got married so there went that savings :-). I am looking at 2500-2800 grafts based on lots of before/afters and overseas doctors opinions. US hair surgeons say I need 1200-1400 grafts but feel like they do not want to scare people due to costs, I do not think it's because of higher fallout rate overseas due to less skilled surgeons.I struggle a bit because it semi-vain but researched and settled in on Dr Tayfun Oguzoglu for a variety of reasons: 1. ISHRS member 2. Professional- organized- very good responses. 3. PRP offered 4. Surgeon doing the extraction and design- alot of places are cheaper and more expensive- most of the cheap ones had assistants doing the extraction 5. Offered not to completely shave head- only donor area- a plus for me but not deciding factorIt's quite the trip for me. I traveled to Istanbul many years ago on business and the trip is no easy chore but the alternative low cost was Mexico and ISHRS surgeon there wanted to extract manually and was of course $$$ than Motorized surgeons. I read the pluses and negatives of each method (Manual vs motorized) and came to my conclusion they are about equal given fatigue factor for manual and less precise (potentially) for motorized. The surgeon in Turkey are usually 1 euro per dollar per graft, Mexico was about $2.50/graft manual and well the US- it's $6-$11 per graft. So I feel comfortable with my decision. The main part is I can not exercise for 14 days and will likely take 3 weeks off to be safe. I used pics from my 2012-2013 efforts posted here http://www.realself.com/question/atlanta-la-overseas-plastic-surgeon-specializing-fue and have not taken formal pre-op pics but will as the time draws near. Updated on 25 Jul 2015: Promised to send Dr. T 2 weeks out pics and have attached them here. Was instructed not to cut my hair and have stopped any meds, even vitamins. I have bought Travel rest pillow for the long flights from the US. I have also purchased H2Ocean spray to keep area moist - it is used for tattoos mainly but has gotten very good reviews from hair transplant patients and doctors. I will take some with me, both in the non aerasol bottle but also dispense another one into a small bottle in case security grabs it. need to grad a few button down short sleeve shirts so i do not pull shirts over my head the first 2 weeks (being overly cautious) Updated on 10 Aug 2015: Will try to get the official pre-op pictures from Dr. Ts office. So here was the drill today. Dr T. office is viewing distance from hotel (Eurasia). It's a 10 min walk but driver picks you up. I was picked up at 9am. Prep: Arrive at Medistate hospital 9:10am- driver escorts you to 8th floor and process starts. For me, I was early and Dr. T was not here yet. They shot alot of before pictures- both full head of dry hair and wet. They asked if I wanted to wait for Doctor or shave my head. I shaved my head. They take off your shirt and buzz you and then wash your hair with what looks to be an iodine solution to make it sterile. Then more pictures. This took about 30 minutes form entrance to office to shaved head Operation: Extraction: They gave me a valium explaining the first set of anesthesia had some adrenaline in it. They took blood for PRP- first attempt to find a vein failed (Never happens to me)- but they switched arms and took the blood. They gave me 2 rounds of anesthesia across most of the back of my head (donor area is large). A lot of folks say this is most painful part of procedure- more on that later. The first round felt like a bee sting at times but “painful”- not really. A tad more than a dentist novacaine sting but they move very fast so that helps. Dr T. showed up and did about 1/3 of the actual extractions, a senior tech did the rest with Dr. T stopping in occasionally. This was different than advertised. They used MicroFue (0.6-0.7) and I did not noticed a difference in technique/speed between the tech and Dr. T . There were 3 Techs in the room at all times- Punching- extracting and placing in Petri dish with Hypothermal solution Extraction started at 9:45ish and finished at 11:30ish Design: Dr. T consulted with me and made the design- since I am NW2- it’s pretty apparent I need frontline and crown so I was ok with doing it this way post shave. Dr T then did all the cuts on the head for the implants. He was very meticulous and took us well into lunch. I think we broke for lunch close to 12:30 Implantation: I ate fast – went to bathroom and was called back at about 12:45 or so – nurses were ready. 2 Nurses/techs implanted the hairs with stops in by a senior tech and Dr. T . After a while this was the most discomforting part of procedure- they were taking their time and telling me to keep chin down in various body positions (all on my back). We were done at 3:00pm. They gave me meds and will go back tomorrow. I fly out early Wednesday morning as I have very long flight back to US and wanted some more healing time. I have started to spay a bit with H2Ocean- one side has a deep implant or contusion where it will bleed so am being careful. I plan to check my one bag of luggage to avoid lifting on trip back. Istanbul airport was a wrapping machine so I am good with that Updated on 11 Aug 2015: Will send pictures when I get home. Today returned to have head washed and clean the bleeding area. They commented that the bleeding could be caused by the protein powder (high blood pressure)- I never heard of that and google did not come up with anything. They took the back gauze off and that was a bit painful- surprised me actually. I stopped pain meds the night before :-(. after the washing -cleaning I was given the post op instructions for next 2-4 weeks. They provided an itch creme as well as some propecia (1 year supply). I do not plan to take propecia due to potential side effects. I actually was on it once for a potential prostate issue and the potential side effects scared me back then. They re-wrapped the donor area in gauze and a head band over it to minimize the chance of face swelling from the anesthesia I fell asleep back at the hotel for a bit (head was up) and noticed small blood dots on the gauze and was concerned the airline may not let me on :-). I used whats app for communication and it works great- SImge said to cut the band off and wet the gauze and remove it which I did. I used the H2Ocean spray which stung a bit in the back but will help prevent any issues. What worked best for sleep is the hospital chucks they gave along with an inflatable airline pillow. I plan to save the last chuck for the flight across the Atlantic. I am very tired and slept only a little bit over last 3 days so will not sleep the first flight into CDG and then sleep on the long flight to Atlanta. Overall- experience was pretty great. I am comparing this to the 3 doctors I saw for consultation in the US a couple years back , one of which is well renowned. While I know truth is in the results which I will need to wait 1 year to fully see, the comments from US doctors on my other thread about overseas doctors was not true for Dr. T (they go by GetHair in Europe). Next post will be after I get some pictures from Dr. T - maybe 1 week from now along with another update Updated on 16 Aug 2015: Technically 6 1/2 days but wanted to get an update out. I have posted pics. Biggest items as i knew was not being able to work out for another week. I have done alot of research on hair's potentially coming loose and consensus is generally 9 days. 5 days for pulling a hair and 9 days for a scab without the graft coming out. Still maintaining the plan of 14 day wait then gradual increase to full workout in 3 weeks. Items of interest: 1. H2OCean spray works well. The pictures are taken with flash so any redness will really show up. I am spraying 1 hour but with another sprayer ( I found that the H2Ocean spray is not a very fine mist)- so I spray into my bottle sprayer that I actually use (see pictures). if I feel any itch, I spray with plain water in between H2Ocean sprays. 2. I am still sleeping with an airline pillow until day 9 so there will not be any chance my transplants are in danger during sleep 3.Did alot of research on Propecia and men my age- it's effects are lower for older men and studies showing good gains were at 5mg/day. 4. I am starting to put the pre wash creme and shampooing per doctors instructions. Overdid it on the creme at first. I rinse with lukewarm water and a cup in bathtub Next update in a week. i sent the doctor instructions on how to lower size of pictures without loosing too much resolution so hope to get some "official " pictures pre and post op Updated on 16 Aug 2015: Forgot to add picture of Sprayers and H2Ocean Updated on 24 Aug 2015: Attached are the 2 week photos post op. The scab on front of forehead fell off right after taking these. I have not picked etc at the scabs and followed post op instructions. I am spraying H2Ocean about every 30 minutes followed by water next 30 minutes. I left scabs till 14 days per instructions before gently massaging with shampoo in shower. I feel H2Ocean will resolve redness fully in front just like back soon. We will see. I can finally work out again--WOOOHOOO!!! Updated on 7 Sep 2015: Here are my photos for 1 month post operation. Some updates of note: 1. The numbness is not widely discussed post op. Top of head is still numb. Some have had this last for 7 months or so from what I have read. It's not really bothersome unless you rub up against something and then it feels totally weird. 2. Shock loss definitely noticeable on the front- it's expected 3. Did a whole bunch of research on preventing future hair loss. Can't post links here but here is what I am going with at least to start (you can google the stuff and find information if interested) a. Nirozal shampoo- prescription strength out of Canada twice a week then Regenapure the other days b. Super Zix II- morning and night c. Azelaic acid + Oleic acid- morning and night Propecia is a non-starter for me and I tried minoxidil a while back and not a fan either. If the above does not work will drop Super Zix for minoxidil but will wait at least 1 year. Updated on 10 Oct 2015: My hair is getting back to normal from the shave and awaiting the long wait for the 4-6 month period to see more visible improvement. 1. Numbness is alot better- at times I think it's gone but when I try to comb the hair I can feel that weird feeling. 2. Staying on the regiment of Nizarol and witches brew of home hair stuff (see previous post) to try to reduce DHT. Got some comments from last post on this I appreciated and I did more research for men my age, but for me- I am not taking an internal medication for hair loss (Propecia). It's personal choice as it is for everyone who takes it/other medication. If I need another procedure in 10 years- will decide then what to do. 3. Had some folks want me to recommend Docs etc- again it's personal choice and all I can say is go with your gut based on research, what you are looking for and what you are willing to pay. For me, it was not a heart transplant nor health affecting, so given the cost delta between the US and overseas, it was an easy choice for me. Then I found a doctor I was comfortable with. 4. I do have some hair that did not undergo shock loss (see frontal picture) and have a few pimples starting where the hair is trying to break the skin. I can't really see my crown that well, even when trying to take pictures myself (girlfriend took the monthly shots), so I can't see the progress/state there as well as the front. 5. Front of head still red- others have experienced this into the 6-7 month period. Does not bother me but I had hoped it would go away sooner- we will see what happens by 3rd month. Updated on 10 Nov 2015: Added dry and wet photos. Today got my first haircut to level out my hair after the shave as they left a few areas higher than others- that is why my side and back are short. Lady who cuts my hair did not say anything :-) I usually went every 2 months - last visit was June 2nd. Plus I figured it would be a better comparison for the folks out there looking if I did not have long hairs covering the transplant sites. The numbness is almost gone! YAY!!! Other than that- keeping my regiment of special shampoo and home cocktails going Updated on 9 Dec 2015: Hi All, Included Wet and dry photos again - hair still coming in very slow BUT if I wear my hair combed to the side I get "coverage" so it looks decent. It's no Donald Trump :-) Of course the other side takes a hit and looks sparse but still doing my chemical regiment to thwart DHT. Being patient and glad that I have the "hmm- he looks sorta weird" stares behind me Numbness is just about gone totally as it the redness from what I see Updated on 11 Jan 2016: No much to report other than people are noticing something is different :-) I let my hair grow out so folks can see the effect of a dry head with longer hair 5 months out- plan for a haircut this week. No wet pics this time Updated on 10 Feb 2016: 6 months. still doing same and uploaded the dry hair pictures. Ash Wednesday- can you tell? Updated on 12 Mar 2016: Letting my hair grow long for first time in 15 years or so. Still doing special shampoo regime and mixtures mentioned previously Had to take these myself :-) Updated on 10 May 2016: I skipped the 8 month pictures, still same look I think so I am just about done here. Won't get another transplant don't think. I do see more US based patients posting here well after the fact. Not knocking them/the doctors, but those who go that route, please realize you usually have 25-30% upfront non-refundable payment Updated on 10 Aug 2016: I let my hair grow long and took pictures. This will be last update. Overall well worth it, especially for the price/results- way better than if I had gone with US doctors. Having said that - it's a little dangerous out there and wish folks safe travels to Turkey if they decide that path. Main Comments: 1. Use H2O Ocean Spray post surgery 2. Expect head to be numbish at least 6 months post op 3. Follow post op instructions at least till 10 days post surgery- it's permanent afterwards. Not saying to do crazy stuff but you do not have to baby it after 10 days 4. Talk to as many folks and read reviews beforehand. This is a personal decision that only you can make Best of Luck to All
At 4 months, we do not expect growth of more than 10-15% in general, so you have already received a great result. Saying this, prospect patients of a hair transplant procedure reading this should not initially believe they can achieve the same outcome as appears you have got a very early result and this is not the case for many others.
Indeed you can have a 4000 Graft implantation in one single day, but there are other variables to consider; A graft calculator is never as accurate, because you cannot enter the number of surgeries you have had and the graft numbers implanted. We have different head shapes and therefore the area of implantation varies widely, size wise. And you may be looking for the highest density possible, and getting that high number. But is your donor region suitable still? Or such harvesting would leave the donor patchy? The best is to get several opinions from different surgeons and assess the outcomes accordingly.
It is important that you do not wear a hat that fits tight on scalp. Wearing a hat or taking it off doesn't matter, as long as you do this carefully, without letting the cap/hat touching your scalp during the first 10 days of your recovery. Thank you,
Once you complete the initial 10 days of recovery, it is not possible to damage the implanted grafts. As you long as you have taken good care of the implanted hairs until they got anchored to the skin, you are fine.
It is very common in Turkey that some no-doctor clinics over-harvest from the donor region and leave it with a patchy look. Patients like the idea of receiving a high number of grafts in implantation, but the donor region should also be examined carefully and calculations should be done accordingly. Harvesting 4500 Grafts is quite excessive, meaning your donor region may recover slower than an harvest of 2000 Grafts understandably. It also looks like you might have a blood circulation problem, which requires close monitoring. I would recommend to take photos every week and document it to see if your donor is recovering or looking the same.
