How long after a rhino/septoplasty is it safe to have a lip lift?

Question

I had a septo/rhino about 4 months ago. I am considering a lip lift but I want to make sure it’s safe! my stitches on my columella healed really well, but I still feel swelling and the tip of my nose is still a little numbed. Should I wait at least a year?

A rhinoplasty and a lip lift are often combined procedures. So now that you are 4 months post septorhinoplasty, you are definitely in the clear for a lip lift. The only caveat is if you've had alar base work done, if so I may recommend waiting at least 6 mo before getting a lip lift.

I don't mind combining a lip lift with a rhinoplasty, but waiting 6 months should be enough time between the procedures if they were not done simultaneously.

Very good question. Many surgeons will recommend scheduling these two surgeries simultaneously so you can achieve full results with just one time under anesthesia and one recovery process. If you are having the procedures separately, two to three months after rhinoplasty may be appropriate. Make sure you are working with an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon to ensure you are ready to undergo a second procedure and that you will achieve an optimal outcome. Good luck to you!

Often, surgeons combine these procedures into one procedure which results in one recovery time for the patient. This is something that can be done during the same procedure. It's safe to have lip lift done not sooner than 6 months post-rhino. Your nose needs to fully heal before planning any other procedure, even if it's in loca anesthesia.

Hi lolitathug,Generally, for patients undergoing open rhinoplasty with an incision along the columella, we recommend waiting at least 2 months before doing a bullhorn type of lip lift if the 2 procedures are not done together.
