After 2 cortisone shots lip is still very tight and itchy..my lip lift was a success but will this horrible tightness ever go away?? thank you
Answer: Lip Lift Recovery Postoperatively, after a lip lift, you can anticipate bruising and swelling that will be noticeable to you and others for about 1 week. After the sutures are removed or dissolve, depending on the type used, there will be redness along the incision line for 4-6 weeks but this can be covered with makeup after about 10 days. Sometimes the upper lip lift is overcorrected with the initial procedure and will slowly assume its final position over weeks to months. Tightness usually starts to improve after 3-6 weeks and should continue to do so. But everyone experiences this differently. Please discuss your recovery with your surgeon and see if you are on the right track based on the technique he/she used. Gary Linkov, MD Manhattan

Answer: Itching and Tightness After Upper Lip Lift If during the past two months, the itching and tightness seems to have been resolving, then YES, those issues should continue to improve with passage of time. If not, then it is recommended that you contact your surgeon and/or schedule follow up appointment. Tightness may be remaining induration (dense tissue related to healing process), impending scar extrusion, or other issue. Itching may be a skin sensitivity to something you're applying, may be from disturbance of sensory nerves in area of lip lift, or may be something else. It's hard to know without having more information about your exact situation. Again, if these problems are not improving, contact your doctor to ask directly.
