Had Mentor HP 400/425cc implants replaced to downsize to tiny breasts (GOAL: A/B cup, Kate Moss Look). Showed my PS photos and stressed that I want to look X-small (max. 220cc), but ended up with a full looking chest (got Natrelle Inspira, Low-Plus Profile 235/250cc). PS claims because of Diameter limitations (now 11.75/12) we cannot go smaller. Is this true? What about Low-Profile w/ same diameter? I am 7 days post-OP, can there be significant swelling present (after minimal pocket adjustment)?
Answer: Implants need to match base diameter of the breasts Without knowing your base diameter measurements and the volume of your own breast tissue, it is not possible to offer detailed advice. The implants you have now are very small and there is likely some swelling still. Going to a low profile will only reduce you by an insignificant amount. Give it some time.

Answer: Breasts implants size reduction Dear Angela, Your before, front picture without cloths, would have been very helpful. Your goal picture, appears to be small A cup size. I am not familiar with the measurement system that you displayed, but let's assume that you were 32 very small A cup size. To achieve your goal picture, you will have to go bigger by 1/2 - 3/4 size, which means to reach 32 small A cup size, you will need implants with volume of 60 - 90 cc . To the best of my knowledge, the smallest implants that are available is 125 cc. That size will bring you to 32 A+ cup size. In regard to your specific situation, I would recommends to wait 3 months before passing judgement on your size, because if you had pocket adjustment, that's the amount of time for the swelling to subside. At the end of that period, you either will like the size of your breasts, or if they still appear to big to you, you can go down to 125 cc implants without any problems. All the best, Dr Widder

Answer: Breasts still too big after downsizing of breast implants… Thank you for the detailed question. Frankly, I think that you need to be more patient. Given that you are only seven days out of surgery, some significant breast size/shape changes can be expected, even though minimal swelling may be present. In other words, it takes several months for the skin/breast "envelope" to redrape over the smaller breast implants utilized. Continue to exercise patience; don't be surprised if you are much happier with the outcome of the procedure performed several months from now. If not, additional conversation regarding options will be relevant. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be pleased with

Answer: The right size for you It is very difficult to determine the exact size and shape implant you will require to best match your ideal breast image without an examination by a board certified plastic surgeon. Not just any board certified plastic surgeon, but one with many years of frequently performing breast augmentation surgery including different approaches, techniques and implant choices. This is because several measurements not to mention your breast characteristics are needed to determine the optimal implant size to obtain your goals. Without knowing these dimensions it would be difficult to make this determination. For example, the existing base width of your breast will determine, in many cases, the maximal volume per implant profile that you can accommodate. To illustrate; a 100 cc difference may make a significant difference with a narrow base width breast, but much less of a difference if you have a wide chest wall and wide breast “foot print”. Therefore, just because your friend may have a great result with let’s say a 350 cc implant to make her go from a “A” cup to a “C” cup size does not mean that you will have the same result with the same size implant. . Further simply placing implants in a bra to determine the size best for you is not always accurate as the bra often distorts the size, is dependent on the pressure the bra places plus the implant is outside your breast and not under it among other variables. Computer software morphing programs that automatically determine the best implant size can be helpful in some but not all cases (e.g. doesn’t work well in my experience with existing implants, sagging or asymmetric breasts). Using “want to be” photos however are useful if simply provided to the surgeon as I will further explain in the below link.#breastaugmentation#findingtherightsize#BA
