Antibiotics will decrease the result of CoolSculpting?

Question

I'm taking Minocycline for acne at the moment and I just had my inner thigh sculpted last week. I'm wondering if taking antibiotics will decrease the inflammation caused by the procedure,which is what's suppose to happen, and therefore has a negative effect on seeing the result? Should I stop Minocycline for now?

Very good questions!The antibiotic minocycline, when used to treat acne, is given in low doses which work through anti-inflammatory mechanisms.  However, there has been no evidence that minocycline interferes with CoolSculpting results.  The anti-inflammatory medication, ibuprofen, is recommended by some physicians for post treatment discomfort.  This medication also does not interfere with how CoolSculpting works.And always be safe; check with your doctor before stopping or starting any medications, even over-the-counter ones.

Antibiotics should have no impact on the results obtained with Coolsculpting.  The treatments however should not be performed if there is an infection.

Taking an antibiotic, such as Minocycline, should have no effect on the CoolSculpting treatment to your inner thighs.  You do not need to stop taking the medication.

Thank you for your question.  Antibiotics should have no impact on your CoolSculpting results. However, it does take 60-90 days to get full results after CoolSculpting, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time before evaluating your results.  Best of luck to you.

There is no evidence that antibiotics adversely affect the outcome of coolsculpting treatments. The cryolipolysis effects from coolsculpting applicators is unaffected by minocycline or any other antibiotic.
