Good day Loerajam, thank you for your question. Liposculpture and rib resection are surgical options for MTF transgender individuals seeking to achieve a more feminine silhouette. Liposculpture involves removing excess fat from specific areas, such as the waist, to improve body contour. Rib resection, also known as rib removal surgery, selectively removes a portion of the lower ribs to create a narrower waist, reducing the appearance of a broader ribcage. Combining both procedures is possible in some cases, but each person's candidacy should be evaluated individually. It's crucial to consult with a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon specializing in gender-affirming procedures to determine the best approach, ensuring both safety and satisfying aesthetic outcomes. As with any surgery, potential risks and benefits should be discussed thoroughly during the consultation process.
While the lower end of the ribcage can be reduced for waistline reduction (ribs 10, 11 and 12), I don't believe based on your picture that is the ribcage area to which you are referring. It appears you likely referring to higher ribs at the level of 7, 8 and 9 which can not be reduced due to the position of the lung right underneath them and the support needed to maintain lung expansion. It will help to have breast implants which may defocus your concern on that body area and provide a simpler form of an effective body shape change.
