Lost a significant amount of weight and have had six pregnancies. My doctor had stated a LBL may be beneficial. I’m scheduled for a FDL. Will a LBL help me or will I have a to a of excess skin above?

Answer: Determining the Right Body Contouring Procedure After Significant Weight Loss and Multiple Pregnancies Dear Kind930535, Congratulations on your significant weight loss and your journey to refine your body contour. This is an exciting next step! Without more photos, it's challenging to give a specific recommendation. However, considering your history of multiple pregnancies and significant weight loss, you might benefit most from a lower body lift. This procedure is designed to address excess skin around the entire waistline, both in the front and the back, which could potentially yield a more desirable result. On the other hand, a Fleur de Lis (FDL) tummy tuck is excellent for addressing excess skin in both the vertical and horizontal dimensions of the abdomen. It can also improve the waistline and upper abdominal contour. Whether this procedure alone leaves you with excess skin above depends on the quantity and distribution of your existing skin laxity. I'd recommend you visit my website, where you can find before and after pictures of patients with body types similar to yours before surgery. It might give you a better sense of what you can expect from each procedure. Remember, every patient is unique, and the best way to make this decision is to have a comprehensive consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon experienced in body contouring after massive weight loss. They can evaluate your physical condition, discuss your aesthetic goals, and guide you toward the procedure that will best meet your needs. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Fleur de lis Tummy tuck or Lower body lift Thank you for your question. You can have either procedure but if you want a very tight abdomen, a fleur de lis pattern abdominoplasty will give you a better result, although with an additional scar. . Please discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon who can give you pros and cons of both procedures to help you make a choice. All the best!
