Diastasis recti w/ umbilical hernias. What do you recommend? (Photo)

26YrF 110lbs, umbilical and periumbillical hernias with diastasis. Nine months postpartum. I don’t want to use mesh or have any major scarring. My main concern is repairing the hernias and having my belly button back. Is it possible to have hernias and diastasis repaired without a TT or could the whole procedure be done laparoscopically were with little scarring? I have some excess skin, but I wonder if this will go away with exercise over time? What do you recommend?

If you find the right general surgeon they can consider doing a laparoscopic repair of the umbilical hernia with full diastasis repair at the same time. I recommend checking out American hernia society and finding a surgeon close to you to consult with. That is a great group.

Additionally there is a way to do both while doing modified mini tuck. That is where we fix the hernia, the muscles, do NOT cut around the belly button but remove small amount of skin at the bottom of the abdomen. The incision ends up being approx 1.5-2x the length of a small c-section scar.

Endoscopic lipoabdominoplasty is the surgical technique utilizing endoscopy to repair acquired abdominal wall defects, such as diastasis recti or ventral hernias.An internal corset (muscle plication) is performed .Only three mini incisions are used, a large wound is not made as in conventional abdominoplasty.
