Esthetician used needle depth under .5?

recently had radio frequencymicro needling done by an esthetician for my pitted acne scars. I assumed the needle depth was .5-1.5 in depth because that's what I'd read online. However, she informed me it was .3-something. I'm not sure what device was used, but is less than .5 even effective? Did I miss out on a better quality treatment that a larger needle could provide? does it depend on the device?
