I am thinking of getting a reverse abdominoplasty for about two inches of skin below my breasts I don't want. However, I am worried about the scar and also if my breasts could sag more after the procedure due to the weight of the scar. I am more concerned about the second possibility.
Answer: Reverse Tummy Tuck There are 4 types of abdomen anatomy which are candidates for rejuvenation. The first is amenable to liposuction alone. The second is best suited for a mini tummy tuck which takes out loose skin from below the belly button and does not address the upper abdomen. The third is a limited situation where the belly button is high and can be lowered or "floated". The elevation of the tissue up to the level of the xiphoid allows for tightening of the abdomen. Sometimes if the lower abdomen is tight and the upper abdomen is loose, a reverse abdominoplasty or tummy tuck can remove this skin. However it does create a scar across both lower inframammary folds of the breast and a scar across the lower chest which is not possible to "hide"The fourth type is the patient who is a full tummy tuck candidate. It is bes to obtain a consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who is a member of ASAPS. Answer: Is a reverse tummy tuck /abdominoplasty worth getting? Dear cape cod A reverse abdominoplasty is a great procedure in the right candidate. Usually these patients have little excess lower abdominal skin and only have diastasis and laxity in the upper abdomen. It is a good procedure in women who already have scars in upper abdomen , sometimes after an open cholecystectomy. It should not impact the position of your breasts. In your case, it is difficult to give useful information without more information and photographs.

Answer: Reverse tummy tuck? If you have extra skin above your belly button, in all likelihood you have enough skin to redistribute for a traditional tummy tuck. I have seen some results from a reverse tummy tuck and the scar is very difficult to hide...not something I would ever recommend. However, your breasts should not sag more from either a traditional tummy tuck or a reverse tummy tuck if done correctly. In this situation, I think it is always best to get a couple different opinions/evaluations from experienced board certified plastic surgeons. Best of luck!

Answer: Only rare indications for a reverse abdominoplasty. Most patients for many reasons benefit from and abdominoplasty. A reverse abdominoplasty is usually reserved for massive weight loss patients that have aesthetic problems benefiting from this type of surgery. If properly executed it should have no effect on the position of your breasts.

Answer: Is a reverse tummy tuck /abdominoplasty worth getting? Thank you for your question. A reverse tummy tuck involves a scar placed across your chest, with the majority hidden in your breast creases. This scar will not accelerate any breast sagging, but be sure that you are seeing a board certified plastic surgeon who can thoroughly explain to you the reverse abdominoplasty procedure, and its incisions. Most patients who may benefit from this type of surgery are the massive weight loss patients (>100 lb weight loss) who have significant skin excess. Most other patients can normally get their desired results from a full tummy tuck and liposuction. Hope this helps.
