First off, I would check in with the doctor to make certain the allergy and infection are subsiding as expected. But most importantly, I would find out what exact diagnosis the biopsy demonstrated--is it mildly dysplastic? moderately dysplastic? severe? or was cancer found? Each of theses diagnoses requires a different treatment and 'abnormal' is not a full diagnosis. Ask to speak with your doctor directly if you aren't getting the answers you need. Best of luck.

Moles with abnormal cells are called atypical nevi. You need to find out just how "atypical" these cells were. Calling them "abnormal" is not enough information. In our office, we will do
an excision with suture closure to get clear margins for all moles that have moderate
to severe atypical cells. For a mildly atypical mole we will observe the area and, if
any pigmentation recurs in the biopsy site in the future, a very small excision
is done (often with a small punch biopsy tool) for a minimal scar. We also
follow all of our "atypical mole" patients by doing full skin
examinations every six months.
