Do I need a full or mini tummy tuck? (Photo)

Question

I’m a mom of two and I’ve recently lost all the baby weight (60 lbs) on a 5’1 frame. I am a personal trainer and have a strong core but when I bend over I have loads of extra skin. Do I need a full or mini TT? Is there anyway to keep my belly button the way it is?

If there is some skin laxity then a full tummy tuck may help, as it appears you have loose skin above and below your belly button. However, please note that there will always be some wrinkled skin whenever you bend over. If there weren't, your skin would be too tight and prevent you from standing straight up! Your surgeon can check to see if loose skin removal would be possible.

It depends on your skin laxity for which I would need to examine you. A mini tummy tuck can work great for laxity below the umbilicus but generally does not improve the area above the belly button. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

Congrats on the two children and baby wt. lose. Great accomplishment. I would recommend a mini tummy tuck if you truly have loose skin under the belly button.  A mini-tummy tuck is limited and addresses the skin under the belly button. It should not alter your belly button. I would also look into skin tightening such as Renuvion. Wish you the best of luck. I would suggest meeting with a board certified plastic surgeon and being examined to see really how much extra skin that you have. You might do well with minimally invasive skin tightening with radiofrequency like ThermiTight.

Find the right plastic surgeon can deliver consistent natural looking belly buttons shown on all of their before and after pictures with a low set scar and a full tummy tuck should not be such a negative procedure.

Based on your pictures you are most likely better off with a full tummy tuck as the skin above belly button needs to be taken care of too. You would likely benefit from a high definition tummy tuck using high definition VASER liposuction. The tummy tuck procedure would comprehensively remove excess skin and fat in the abdominal region. The abdominal muscle would also be 'tightened' to create the appearance of a flatter stomach.
