Has any insurance approved a thigh lift?

Question

I have been a yo-yo dieter and mostly overweight my whole life. My weight has been from 125 up to 380 lbs. I currently weigh about 230 lbs and still trying to lose weight. I know I will need multiple procedures as I have a lot of loose skin. But right now the excess skin on my inner thigh is bothering my groin area and was just curious if any insurance has ever covered this type of surgery?

Insurance is unlikely to ever cover a thigh lift.  I perform the many variants of thighs lifts, but pictures in a standing position or an exam would be very helpful to determine what may be appropriate for you.Kenneth Hughes, MDBeverly Hills, CA

Most thigh lifts will not be covered by insurance. You should discuss your symptoms with your doctor to determine the best options.

Insurance will only cover a thigh lift if the excess skin is causing a significant medical problem.  In the case of the inner thigh, this would be frequent episodes of infection, skin ulceration, etc.. And you cannot simply claim this.  The insurer will require medical records and photographic documentation.  Congratulations on your weight loss and good luck going forwarde.
