Retin-A and facial plastic surgery?

I would suggest that you ask your plastic surgeon to be sure, but I'm comfortable allowing patients who are long-term users of Retin-A (meaning over 6 months on a regular basis) to continue doing so. They can usually start again 2-3 weeks post-surgery depending on what was done.

In you were a patient in my practice, I would have you stop the retin-A 2 weeks before surgery.  The more important detail is the use of Accutane.  If you have been on Accutane, you need to stop that at least 6 months for a septorhinoplasty.  It can prevent normal healing of the nasal skin.I hope this helps.  

I recommend cessation of Retin-A for 2 weeks prior to facial surgery. Patients can resume use after all incisions are healed.

You should discuss this with your surgeon but 2 weeks should be OK. Then ask when you can restart it.
