I doubt lemon water or even a true diuretic pill will change liposuction swelling that much. Sorry to get a little scientific here but diuretics work directly to reduce your intravascular fluid meaning the fluid inside the blood vessels. Liposuction swelling is the interstitial space, the space between the cells. The best way to help lessen this swelling is with well fitting compression garments which increase the hydrostatic pressure on the interstitial space to then drive the fluid back in to the blood vessels and then to the kidneys to be eliminated. Hope this makes sense. Good luck.
Fluid retention or swelling is a natural part of the healing phase after surgery. Compression, movement and time are the most important factors in the resolution of the fluid retention. There are other things you can do help the swelling to resolve. These include lymphatic massage, vibration plates, and low impact exercise. Unfortunately, Lemon water won't reduce swelling. We also don't recommend diuretics. Wishing you the best of health, Dr Wright.
Dear franklinparrish,I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
I have never recommended drinking lemon water and do not know of any evidence that it will reduce post lipo fluid retention
Hi and welcome to our forum!Lemon water contains citric acid which is a natural diuretic. It may increase urine output but may result in dehydration, sodium and potassium loss. Swelling after surgery or trauma is a natural phenomenon. The tissue fluid is rich in nutrients. However, excess swelling can be minimized with elevation of the treated / injured part. It is not routine to administer a diuretic after surgery unless there is a medical indication.Best wishes...
Dear Franklin,Swelling post liposuction is a natural reaction our body has to surgery. The best way to minimize swelling and help with healing after surgery is to wear your compression garments 24/7, daily exercise, low salt in the diet and healthy protein/ fruit antioxidants. Arnica pellets also help pre and post surgery.Best. DrBrecht Seattle, Wa

Dear McGraw, Several liposuction and sculpting technologies exist nowadays. Although liposuction is about fat reduction, Vaser ultrasound liposuction has often shown a bonus benefit of smoothing the cellulite in the liposuctioned areas. Best. DrBrecht Seattle, WA
Liposuction of your abdomen and flanks also called lipo 360 could give you a much smaller waist and a smaller stomach. One benefit of liposuction is that it will not leave a large scar. Recovery is easier for liposuction. The other option would be a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty. A tummy will...
