Do you lose weight after laser liposuction?

Basically, I’m getting laser liposuction, I weigh 63kg at the moment and I’d like to weigh maybe 60/59, im 178cm. I was wondering if it makes you lose weight? I’d like it on a few areas, I don’t really mind if it doesn’t make you lose weight but it would be good if it does, thankyou

Liposuction is a body sculpting procedure which removes a few pounds of fat. The amount of fat removed with liposuction does not have a significant impact on your total body weight. Liposuction sculpts an area of the body for arms , legs or abdomen and the changes in that area are analogous to   with a much greater weight loss in your whole body. You need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best. You will likely need to lose weight first before undergoing any cosmetic procedure to get the best outcome. For best results, it is recommended to be at your ideal or stable weight before getting a sculpting liposuction procedure. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure; rather, it is for sculpting, defining and removing problem areas that cannot be removed with weight loss, diet and exercise alone. If skin is very loose before surgery, then it will need to be removed: tummy tuck/abdominoplasty for lower abdominal skin; breast lift for excess breast skin; and/or a brachioplasty for loose arm skin. Liposuction is not performed in individuals who desire to lose weight, that’s not what it’s designed for. Liposuction is designed to produce spot reduction in areas which are out of proportion to the rest of the body as in love handles, saddlebags or belly rolls. Dear Laura,
Liposuction is not a weight loss surgery, your contour will improve, but weight stays relatively the same. Adding a tummy tuck at the same time, however, does cause noticeable weight loss and improves blood sugar control in diabetes.
Good consistent diet and exercise during your lifetime will improve and maintain the results!

Hello and thanks for your question. Liposuction operation is body contouring procedure. The main goal of the procedure is not the weight loss. Even though it is not a weight loss surgery, It has weight loss effect because of the fat removal. It is hard to say if you will reach your goal with loosing 3 kg of weight but If you support the surgery result with diet and exercise, you will reach your goal.

Liposuction is NOT a weight loss procedure...it was designed as a reshaping procedure. If too much fat is removed at one sitting, there may be problems of excessive blood loss and hemodynamic instability. The maximum amount of fat allowed to be removed during liposuction varies from state to state in the US but is usually between 4000-5000 cc (~ 8 pounds). As you are already quite slim (based upon weight and height data), I don't think there is that much excess fatty tissue.
