I am 7 weeks into upper eyelid surgery and my eyes look best in the morning and then my inner eye lids go higher and higher as the day progresses which makes me look extremely tired... why does it change so dramatically during a course of a day ? This seems to be part of the healing process ? ! However, what can I expect in a years time that they look more natural and nice like in the morning or overdone and high like in the evening ? Is the scar swollen in the morning or relaxed in the morning ?
Answer: Swelling 7 weeks after blepharoplasty surgery Thank you for sharing or question. Without being able to view photographs, I can only make some general comments. At 7 weeks postop from blepharoplasty you undoubtedly have some residual swelling. It is common for this swelling to fluctuate based on the time of day. In general, this swelling is related to changes in head position and gravity. You may notice more swelling in the morning, after you have been lying flat all night, which likely improves throughout the day after you have been upright for a few hours. Swelling may also cause your eyelids to appear asymmetry. The asymmetry may also change or fluctuate. Rest assured knowing that most patients undergoing blepharoplasty have similar issues during the healing process. With that being said, it is still important that you maintain frequent and long–term follow-up with your blepharoplasty surgeon to be absolutely sure that what you are experiencing is part of the normal healing process.Good luck!Dr. Harmych

Answer: I am 7 weeks into upper eyelid surgery. Any suggestions? Without a good set of photos- and the benefit of physical exam- it's difficult to comment accurately. Generally speaking at 7 weeks- you're still early post-op- so you need to give it time to heal. It is best to address all of the post-op questions with your operating Surgeon since he/she is the one who performed the procedure.

Answer: It really takes quite some time to heal from these surgeries. Without phototgraphs it is not possible to comment on issues you may be aware but unable to describe. Consider posting an eyestrip photograph. It is very unlikely anyone would be able to recognize you from this but it will help up advise you.

Answer: Eyelid changes in healing Thank you for the question. Perhaps too much fat was removed from the upper eyelid? When you are first getting up in the morning, you have been laying down and the tissue is more even. As you're on your feet throughout the day, tissue sinks down. This could reveal an overly resected eyelid fat compartment.

Answer: Puffy eyes after eyelid surgery Healing after eyelid surgery may take several months. The incisions made cause scar which matures over time. It may be 6 months before the eyelids look even. If there is concern, visit your surgeon.
