Mild Side Effects While On Finasteride

Question

I've been on finasteride for around 10 days now. I've been paying attention to my body since I've started taking finasteride. I currently have any side effects other than loss of morning (wood) erections. My sex drive, libido, etc. are just fine. But the morning erection is either almost gone or really weak. Should I quit the drug?

Finasteride is commonly used for treating hair loss and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), but it can have side effects, including sexual dysfunction such as reduced libido, erectile dysfunction, and reduced frequency of morning erections. If you notice that only your morning erections are affected, it might be worth monitoring the situation to see if other side effects develop or if this particular issue worsens.
Before making any decisions about discontinuing finasteride, it's important to consult with your Dermatologist. They can help determine whether the change in your morning erections is likely due to the medication and whether it outweighs the benefits you're receiving from finasteride. They might also suggest alternative treatments or adjustments to your current regimen to mitigate side effects (such as topical preparations) while still addressing your primary health concerns.
