I had my first Miradry treatment almost 3 months ago. It may have helped my sweating by 10%. My sweat tends to be caused more by stress or nervousness. Machine was at level 3 and I felt a lot of pain during the treatment (8 or 9). The doctor tried a new way of giving the numbing injections and threaded it rather than doing it the normal way. I'm trying to decide if I should do another treatment. Will Miradry work on stress sweating? I am also worried about the pain. Is the pain normal?

Answer: MiraDry and stress sweating I would do the second treatment. Miradry should work well for stress sweating. And I would say that the level of pain that you felt is not common. It would be worth continuing therapy for most patients in your situation.

Answer: Stress Sweating MiraDry should help stress sweating because it destroys the glands that produce the sweat no matter the cause. However if you continue to experience stress sweating a medication called propranolol may be used in low doses to block that "fight or flight" response your body feels in a stressful situation. Talk to your doctor to see if you might be a good candidate for propranolol. I think with regard to the MiraDry you may need a higher setting and you may need a different numbing technique. Maybe you should go back for a consult before your second procedure to discuss your options. One way to numb up is just serial puncture instead of fanning or threading. Maybe this would get you more even coverage of the area to be treated.
