Before my procedure I did lots of research and overwhelmed my self with lots of reviews and information. I almost talked myself out of it... I’m so glad I didn’t!! It’s only been 9 days, but I haven’t had to wear any deodorant and I haven’t had any wetness or odor. Although, I have read after a few weeks some sweating may reappear. I’m a 30 year old female and have suffered with hyperhidrosis since middle school. Spending tons of money in search of that magic deodorant/antiperspirant and on new shirts bc my favorite ones were ruined. Through my research I decided to wash with Hibiclens soap the night before and morning of. My drs office recommended that I shave the morning before. They day of Miradry I wore a comfortable bra and a comfortable loose shirt, which was easy to put back on after the procedure. The medical esthetician cleaned my underarms and then applied the temporary tattoo guide. She then proceeded with the lidocaine and saline injections, it was 7 injections for each arm. The injections did pinch, but they weren’t unbearable. The numbness went all the way to my hands. I double checked to make sure that was okay and I was reassured it wasn’t unusual. Right away she began using the handheld Miradry wand, but it was very uncomfortable, so we paused and allowed the anesthetic 5 more minutes to kick in. The rest of the procedure was totally pain free. Afterwards I was extremely jittery, likely from the epinephrine in the anesthetic. I was given some ice packs along with my post op instructions, and drove myself home. It probably took about an hour for the jittering to wear off and for tingling to start getting better in my hands. The post op discomfort was more than I anticipated, but nothing too extreme. I was very diligent with the ice packs, 20 min on and 20 min off while awake for the rest of that day and the following two days. I also took ibuprofen as needed and another supplement to help with swelling that I came across in all my research called “Swell-x Pt.” I have also been cleaning my underarms with the hibiclens twice a day and I applied vaseline for the first two days. My arms down to my elbow and underarms were very swollen for a few days. Now most of the swelling has gone down. I have several lumps under each arm that are very tender, I expect it will take them several weeks to gradually disappear. The backs of my upper arms are still numb and the rest of my arm is hypersensitive, tingly, and sore with an occasional “zing” ...nothing that has stopped me from going to work or being in too much pain. Based on my experience I had three days off after Miradry and I’m very thankful I did. I wouldn’t have been comfortable going back to the day after or the second day even. Each day I feel like I’m healing a little more! I will continue to update. (My experience with Trinity Vista Dermatology was exceptional!! They spent lots of time answering all my questions, and putting me at ease. You can the entire staff truly cares about their patients!) Updated on 9 Nov 2019: It’s been about a month... I am healing well and very pleased with the results so far. I’m only wearing a natural deodorant some days. I haven’t noticed any odor and very little wetness. I still have some lumps but they’re slowly resolving. Also the back part of my arm and parts of my underarms are still numb. Thankfully my arms aren’t nearly as sensitive as they were the first few weeks or so.
After years of constantly having to hide my under-arm sweat by wearing dark colored blouses, having to wear a jacket over any blouse that wasn't black, or having gone through several embarrassing and uncomfortable situations, I finally decided that it was time to get rid of the problem. I made an appointment at Trinity Vista Dermatology, as I had already heard about their miraDry procedure form a friend. The Aesthetician was very thorough with explaining how the treatment worked, and what to expect before, during, and after the treatment. I then decided that miraDry was going to be my best option for treatment. Fast forward to the day of my appointment, I had a great experience and hardly dealt with any pain. After the procedure I followed the Aestheticians instructions and applied ice on and off for the next 48 hours. Although I did experience quite a bit of swelling, and water retention in my arms, waist, and waist, I was able to resume to my normal activities by the second day, and even wear a colored blouse! After the first week, the swelling had gone down dramatically. The results definitely outweigh the downtime, which is very minimal, and 4 months later I am completely happy with my results! I would definitely recommend miraDry to anyone that has been in my situation and is ready to get rid of the problem, not just cover it up.
I always wanted to reduce my double chin. Even at my lowest weight, I had a double chin. I have had 2 inject tions and am so happy with the results. I could use a 3rd injections but I am so happy after 2 that I think I will stop now. I was never looking for perfection, just a significant improvement. I was able to save $250 by joining the brilliant distinctions program. Updated on 5 Jul 2017: I've been reading a lot of the reviews of the people who did not feel that Kybella was worth it. I wonder if it's really moreso a function of expecting results too quickly. I was told up front by my dermatologist that I would need 2 or 3 treatments. I have had 2 treatments now and I can honestly say that I look about 70% better. It will take a 3rd treatment to be optimal. So my expectations are in line with what my treatment will require. I'm very happy with my 70% approve improvement and Do not plan to have the 3rd treatment anytime soon. I no longer have to position my head in a certain way when taking pictures. Also, my skin tightened up when the fat left so I don't have the problem of sagging skin that some people mentioned. Updated on 25 Aug 2017: I have a hereditary double chin and finally decided to do something about it. My Before & After pictures are after 2 rounds of Kybella, a total of 4 vials. I couldn't be happier. Yes, I had to endure the bull frog neck but that lasted only 4 or 5 days each time. I had no bruising. I also believe I had realistic expectations. I wasn't looking for perfection at my age. I was hoping for a noticeable improvement and that's what I got.
It's been a week and a half since my first treatment. The actual treatment was not as bad as I thought it would be. The thought of numerous shots scared me, but they are small needles and don't seem to go in very deep. The rest was a breeze. Recovery was also not as bad as I anticipated. I iced as they recommended and the swelling under my arms was not too bad. What I didn't expect is my breast swelled and stayed that way for about a week. So ladies I recommend buying a larger bra prior to treatment. Today I feel great and would say so far so good. Hardly any sweat and only during high stress moments. Still not enough to been seen trough a shirt. My next treatment is scheduled for February and I will not be dreading near as much as I did the first time.
Like most of you, this is something I battled for many years. My outfits consisted of a black shirt or a colored shirt with a jacket over. When asked by others why I had a jacket on, I'd simply reply "I'm always cold"... which was a lie of course. I always carried body spray and deodorant in my purse to cover up the smell. I came across miraDry while researching Botox. After lots of hours reading reviews and weighing the pros and cons from others, I decided to do it. By the way - thank you to everyone who took the time to write reviews and follow ups. I found a local dermatologist office that offered miraDry and scheduled a consultation. After speaking with the ladies there I scheduled my first procedure. I mixed up the appointment time and was 30 minutes late, luckily the woman still allowed me to have the treatment. I was nervous about the needles however once the numbing agent kicked in I was pretty much pain free. My dermatologist recommended level 5 to get the best results. There were 2 spots in my right armpit that I felt a little pain but it was very minimal and tolerable. From start to finish it took about an hour and half. I am 5 hours post treatment and very swollen with some pain. Currently icing every 20 minutes and have taken a couple of Ibuprofen. I have a ball under each arm that's a little larger than a golf ball but that's normal from what my doctor explained. Just going to take it easy and pray for a quick recovery. I'll update this post in a couple days with more information. Updated on 14 Apr 2015: Forgot to add photos earlier. Updated on 20 Apr 2015: VERY happy with the results, day 6 and I'm still DRY! Never thought I'd be able to say that. I recommend taking at least 1 day off work, if possible two. I spent the entire day of the procedure icing every 20 minutes. That first night was pretty restless with a little pain which is why I'd take 2 days of recovery is needed. By the afternoon of day two I was able to go about my daily activities as normal, minus working out. Swelling until day 3 was uncomfortable but looked worse than it felt. Now on day 6 its completely gone. This has been one of the best decisions I've every made. I now feel like I can live life without worry of sweat or smell. I still keep checking because this was not something I ever thought would be possible. Updated on 15 Jun 2015: It's been 2 months since my MiraDry treatment and I'm still completely happy with the results. My left armpit is about 95% dry and my right is about 90%. With those results I would say the procedure was well worth it! Swelling is gone and no pain. A plus as well as the dryness: underarm hair loss! I would guess about 60% of my underarm hair is gone and what does grow is much finer. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I'll try to answer them as quickly as possible.
It is hard to tell for sure without testing it if this mole is dangerous. Sometimes the fact of a mole becoming raised is just a normal process that happens when someone matures from childhood to adulthood, but sometimes it can be a sign of a more worrisome change or malignancy. I would recommend removal with a small excision that would be in line with the fold you naturally have when you smile. The location appears generally ideal for lining it up in that natural crease.
Vascular injection can and does happen on rare occasion even with good injection technique. It does sound like she did the right thing using massage and heat to bring blood flow back to the area. It's also helpful to have a reversal agent available called hyaluronidase. This can be used if Juvederm is inadvertently injected into a vessel especially if massage and heat don't work. Check laws for esthetician injection in your state. These laws vary from state to state. In any area, I'd make sure there is good physician oversight (if you don't use a physician) in case there is a real problem.
What you describe, where increased sweating occurs in other parts of the body after sweat glands are destroyed in one area, is called compensatory sweating. With MiraDry there have been only extremely rare reports of this happening. In our practice we have done over 100 MiraDry treatments and have not had this occur with any of our patients.
From your post I was not sure which photos were before and which were after. The ones in the white shirt look slightly fuller to me although the angle is slightly sideways. The before and after photos always have to be at the same angle and with your neck in the same neutral position. If the ones in the white shirt are "after" photos, my next question is how long it has been since your last treatment. When the fat cells lyse they do cause inflammatory cells to come in and eat up the debris. It may be that time is all you need. I would certainly wait longer than 1-2 months. Go back to the surgeon who performed the service at the three month mark and see if you can take a look at before and after photos together. If it is worse than before then try to figure out if the tissue there is totally soft or if firm then maybe still inflamed. Scar is possible but not common and really much less likely than a vigorous inflammatory response. Finally just to be thorough...do you remember if you have gained, lost, or had stable weight during this process? If you have not weighed yourself, are you wearing the same clothes/jeans as previous?
I do not think this is going to harm you. We had this happen once during a training session and our patient was fine. Certainly the dose of Botox even if you absorbed the entire drop or two (or more)should be lower than a dose that would cause harm since the nurse probably only had a reasonable dose drawn up to administer. As to whether the headache is related I am uncertain.
