Unusual Swelling Inside Nostril After Rhinoplasty?! (photos)

Question

I had a rhinoplasty 3 weeks ago, and now I have a hard time breathing through my nose and noticed that especially in my left nostril the interior walls are looking very swollen. I think this also makes my nose look bigger/wider from the outside. Is this swelling inside normal or should I be concerned? Am I looking at a pre-stage of scar tissue formation that won't resolve?

Did you expect other scenario? don't get obsessed, all will normalize in weeks, I notice open approach scar, this swells even more than others. Be patient.

It is common for this swelling to be present at 3 weeks. The area you are seeing is the inner lining of the nose, which commonly swells after surgery. Be patient, and follow up with your surgeon.

Oh goodness, it is far too early at less than a month to make any assessments regarding swelling vs fullness.  I would discuss your concerns with your surgeon so she/he can guide you through this process.

To early to tell at 3 weeks. If so concerned ask your rhino surgeon to inject low dose steroids to area. That is what I would do for you but I would charge $250.

You appear to have some normal postoperative swelling of the nostrils at this point. I would be patient and discuss any concerns you have with your surgeon. Generally, these issues resolve with time and patience. On a rare occasion, a minimal office procedure can be performed to enhance the result, however, you should wait at least 6 months before considering any further treatment.

At 3 weeks postop, you likely have swelling throughout the nose. Hard to say exactly what is going on inside your nose without examining this. There is some redness, but that could also be postsurgical related changes and healing. You should be consistently following up with your rhinoplasty surgeon at this stage. I would make it a priority to see them sooner than later to examine this area and address any concerns you have.
