The answer is NO. Jowls develop as cheek skin and fat sag forward and collect just behind the mouth. This leads to deepening of the nasolabial and marionette folds and bulging of jowl fat outward. The underlying cause is looseness and therefore some type of tightening is needed to improve this condition. Both surgical (cheek lift) and non-surgical (various technologies such as light based, ultrasound, and radiofrequency based) treatments offer different degrees of tightening. Honestly, surgery tightens and smooths the tissue the most, and the non-surgical treatments offer just modest tightening. Also, injection of fillers in the depressed folds in front of the jowl bulge can help smooth the transition into the jowl and camouflage the area.
Botox wouldn't work for the jowls. Consider fillers instead, which would replace volume loss and plump up the face to smooth away jowls.
I am unaware of botox being use to treat sagging skin. I would check the source very carefully if someone is offering that treatment to you.
The only way to treat effectively sagging jowls - is by undergoing a facelift/ neck lift surgery. Seek an experienced Board Certified PS for in person consultation
Botox is not used to eradicate sagging skin of the jowls. A more appropriate treatment may be the use of facial fillers, skin tightening procedure such as ultherapy or a surgical procedure.Good Luck
Thanks for the question and by now you realize that Botox is not the best options for jowls – Botox is not for sagging. In order to make the jowls better, you need to tighten the skin. For this we can use some of the radiofrequency (RF) skin tightening devices that work well here – the Venus Legacy, the EndyMed 3Deep, the BTL Exilis, the Alma Accent, or the Ellman PelleFirm. Also, fractionated ultrasound, Ultherapy, can work here.Consult with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to learn the best treatment options for you.
Botox works by relaxing muscles to soften the wrinkles they create. Sagging jowls are due to loss of skin elasticity, loss of facial fat, and gravity. Botox would only serve to worsen the problem by causing the face to droop more. Face lift surgery is likely what you'd need.
As you read most of the expert posters agree BOTOX is not for saggy areas. Where did you get that concept is more important now???
Botox, Dysport or Xeomin help eradicate wrinkles but not Jowls. Treatment of Jowls is mainly by Surgery. However lower jaw line shaping can be done by a clever use of fillers and Botox that will help minimise the appearance of the jowls. You should find an expert who routinely does thisAll the best
Botox Cosmetic is a wonderful product which primarily helps with dynamic wrinkles caused by the muscles of facial expression. Jowls are usually caused by drooping skin. Many times the problem is not with the loose skin around the jowls themselves, but by midface volume loss. Surgical options can include lower facelift with fat transfer to the cheek. For mild jowling and midface volume loss, one non-surgical option is cheek augmentation using Juvederm Voluma. Thanks for the question!
It should not have any effect on your Botox, however you should let your injector know about any medications you're taking before you have your treatment.
Botox works by inhibiting motor movement to your facial muscles to eliminate dynamic wrinkles. You cannot use it to create dimples. There is a surgical solution called dimpleplasty which you can look into if you would like to create dimples.
Thank you for your question. Botox will not make you look aged. It will give you more a refreshed look. After Botox wears off, the skin goes back to where it was before. I hope this helps!
Thank you for your question. There are certain amount of units recommended per area. It is best to consult with a Board Certified Dermatologist for best treatment plan. I hope this helps!
The problem with dynamic wrinkles is that they are a result of muscle contraction for various reasons. Your stress could be causing you to frown in your sleep, for example. You could try a small dose of Botox as an intervention and continue your skin regiment while the Botox allows your muscles...
You continue to have some wrinkles of the cheeks and lateral forehead. These areas generally are not treated by Botox injections. However, we often use hyaluronic acid fillers and skin resurfacing procedures to treat these areas. I would recommend discussing fillers and skin resurfacing...
