Hey doctors, I am exactly 7 weeks post BA with anchor lift. Seemed like everything was healing well but after taking off my embrace scar sheet (on for 8 days) I found a few more spitting sutures. It is only in my right breast (which is also having a harder time dropping) I will text my doctor as well but just wanted to know if this is still normal and when will it stop? Should I discontinue my scar therapy for now?
Answer: Post Op Scar Management Hi mrakowski, For scars, I close all of my incisions in 5 layers and do not use absorbable sutures because they cause inflammation and worse scarring. I tape all of my incisions in the office visits once a week for six weeks after surgery to improve the appearance. After taping, I start my patients on a scar gel therapy for 3 months that they have to put on their incisions twice daily. I understand you are concerned with spitting sutures in your incision site. It is not uncommon for this to appear a few weeks after breast augmentation surgery. Always follow your surgeon's post operative care instructions when it comes to scar management to avoid any complications like infection and for faster healing and recovery. If you are concerned, you should visit your plastic surgeon for assessment. and to discuss your concerns, as different surgeons have different approaches in scar management. Answer: Spitting suture this late in recovery? After re reading your 7+ postings here on RS, it seems you were/had very uninformed postoperative course. Close follow up by your chosen surgeon in this case would be recommended, since you have had so many minor post issues that could ONLY be addressed by the operative surgeon.

Answer: Spitting sputures Sutures can "spit" or extrude at any time after surgery...sometimes even years later! Your plastic surgeon can assess you and determine if this is a suture or something else. Usually a spitting suture can be removed easily in the office.

Answer: Scar treatment for breast lift Hello, Thanks for most important question with good pictures. What I can see that your scar therapy is too aggressive. All scar sheets like ( silicone sheets butter sheets ) have the aim to dissolve the scar a tissue that is holding tow edges of old wound together and therefore what you see is that at places depth of scar is showing as wounds and holes. I suggest to my patients in this situation to slow down for a week and give body a chance to heal before your start again methods to dissolve scar tissue. I think you should visit your PS. I wish you all the best

Answer: Spitting Sutures After Breast Lift Suture spitting after a breast lift can continue for 2 to 3 months and occasionally longer. You are in this period of post operative healing. Just advise and see your plastic surgeon and do not worry. In my experience healing, even with suture spitting, continues to be as good in the final outcome as when spitting does not occur. Temporarily discontinue the scar therapy at the site of spitting until it has healed.
